As long as you are upfront with them in the application process, then you should not have any problems. The biggest problem that have is explaining long stretches of unemployment. They look favorably at someone that is working hard to make ends meet. Be honest, and work hard in school, and you will be fine. Just make sure that you are sure about what you are getting into, it is going to take a year of hard work to run enough miles to repay your tuition. You need to make sure that you have a good support system at home for when you are away. If the hotwater tank blows up and you are 1000 miles away, who is going to fix it? You need to think it through very carefully. I have trained new drivers here a Roehl for a couple of years, and that is the one thing that gets alot of new guys is problems at home, and no one to fix them. It is a good job if you can hack it, but most guys do wash out in the first couple of months. Good luck.

Yeah I understand what you mean. I wish I could sit here and say my life is perfectly suited for being a driver. It's not, however. My dad's health is fading and well..I'm already having problems at home due to not being able to bring home enough money. I clear about 800 a month total. It's a part time job but the schedule they give me is so screwy that I can't get a second job. Wife already wants to try separation. So I suppose I am thinking 'what do I have to lose?' Can't think of a better way to separate than to be on the road. At least I'll have my mind on my work. Heck it might even do us some good. And if it doesn't, at least I got a job to support myself.

So no, I'm not single with no bills..to where trucking would fit me perfectly. But I have at least driven before and love it.

Sorry for all the juicy details on my life story. I guess I've gotten to the point where I don't care who hears it. Been a rough year.

I am 22. I only had 1.5 years of work experience and 1.5 years of a gap in employment. They approved me for RDTC. :biggrin_25519:
