I bit confused about the Passenger (P)

    Ok guys I have a class A license in the state of RI, and accured my Passenger endorsement about a month ago, well today I when to my local DMV and also got the HazMat endorsement, well I told the lady at the desk that why is it that I don't have the (R) restriction on the back of my license like for chauffeur, and she claims that it's because i have a Passenger Endorsement I could drive with it under 14 passenger or a bus over 16 passengers, but it really doesn't make sense to me?

    shouldn't I have both , my paperwork says R restriction granted for approval.

    The license indicates the upper limits of what you are allowed to drive.

    Class D = UP TO 16,000# vehicles
    Class C = UP TO 26,000# vehicles
    Class B = SINGLE vehicles of any size
    Class A = SINGLE OR COMBINATION vehicles of any size

    Same with the endorsements. The written test for the passenger endorsement is the same, whether you are wanting to drive a 16 passenger bus or a 72 passenger bus. The only difference is the size of the vehicle, which is indicated by the drivers license class (if you test in a passenger vehicle larger than your currently held license) or by a restriction (if you test in a passenger vehicle smaller than your currently held license).
