20 minutes from home and you can't go? Wow! Swift is losing favor fast with me. What sense does it make for you to sit around and wait on truck repairs at the terminal when you would only be 20 minutes away when they fix the truck?
Follow me with Swift...

Well you can't be 100% sure there really piss bottles. there is a 1% chance they could be some sort of home brew in it's fermentation stage. True?

Hi guys. I just quit my job after 11+ years and am getting ready to go to AIT School of Trucking in Phoenix. My brother drives for Swift and is doing ok but I don't know who I want to work for yet. I am reading this thread with great interest though. It's a tough decision with so many horror stories from people about just about every company out there.

I really hope my experience helps you make a good choice. I'll tell you like this since I'm still in training. Swift is great, l believe it determines what terminal your going to. I'm out of Fontana, CA. The staff is nice and the driver managers are cool as well. Just like someone said you'll here bad news about just every company especially Swift. Why: I come to realize that swift is like the New England Patriots in trucking; everybody hates them, why, because its the largest company and its growing fast. This its where I wanna be. I found out that the owner is a true believer of christ, and that's what nasser me realized that this is a God given job. It may not ber for everyone, most people don't want to run hard, but how will you make bucks sitting around. -
Update:
Only 89 hours left till I'm solo. Still out with the same mentor. I asked for a change in mentors, however, Swift tells you if you want a new mentor to ask whenever you get to a safe ground (terminal). Not true not true at all, when l asked for a new mentor they made me feel guilty. They ask you a millom questions why you want to change, when you explain your worry they make a judgement to weather they believe it's a good reason or not. It shouldn't be like that, if a trainee wants a new mentor no questions should be asked (my opinion). I wanted a new mentor because this guy wasn't a neat freak like me. "and yes it was piss bottles, not apple juice". So what l had to do was have a trucker to trucker convosation with him. We ended up ironing out or problems like men, hetookhis truck and cleaned the suckers out like he was Mr.clean (remeber him). so my advice is to have a good communication line with your mentor and training will fly by. Look at me I'm almost done, about two more weeks and I'm along only four weeks in...
"Swift if great"Sarge_az Thanks this. -
Love2shift you made a common error that lot's of experienced drivers make. You didn't do your homework before you chose a company. Swift is a garbage company. But you are there now. Try to get a year in and then start looking. But don't make another mistake and leave Swift to go to Werner, CR England, JB Hunt or a few of the other garbage carriers. Do your homework and make a better choice next time. Good luck.

Kind of harsh... Maybe Swift fit his particular needs at the time. Who do you recommend Big Al???
