Anything is possible with the right motivation and money.

Things may get very interesting if there is a trans or chassis computer involved.

 

Those modern Volvos are nothing more than a rolling computer on wheels, I highly doubt that would work, but I'm sure someone would know more than me...

 

Beyond question you could make it run and drive. I'm not sure how hard it would be to make the dash fully functional. I would suggest contacting these people and get their opinion on whats possible.

one thing you will have to meke yourself: Cabine-engine wiring, no this part for CAT is available. The next step - get reason 3-4 passwords for your engine and change engine control to by the J1939, enable PTO (else cruise controll will not work) and change speed sourse to J1939. Do not forget to preogram top gear ratioo of transmission.
Look carefully at VECU controlled relay wiring, D12 engines power is controlled with K2 relay, cumming engine is supplied from battery box and no relay is used. it depends on what engione was before CAT


Range downshift protection is programmed in VECU so disable all unused in and out pins.

Do all this stuff becouse on volvos engine is VECU controlled. If there was Volvo engine before CAT get VCADs pro to change engine type in VECU to other ore cummins.

Well, Volvo made VECUs for cat, but these VECUs are rare on Version-II and as I can see newer VECU works fine with any J1939 controlled engine, I did D12D to D12C and D12F swap, I did D12D to N14 swap and I did Series 60 to D12C swap. With some hidden traps all work finally well.

I cant advice you anything about engine mounts, fans, radiator hoses becouse I did wiring works and programming only, but I can ask mechanics who did this swap about this
