just by reading all of your post, You are not a young person, I am willing to bet anything. I really like what you said here. And being on the road, is the best way. When I first started, I was a spotter for almost, 5 years, now and then on the road. But I mastered over the years of backing up anything under my tractor. I have learned from all my mistakes, and I can gaurantee you, every driver on this board made mistakes when we first started out, and we learned from them. If I were to teach someone to drive, I would have him back that truck in 50 doors a day, then set some cones up, and have him back up in an (S) shape turns, almost zigzaging backwards ALL DAY. We`ll do this for about 2 weeks. And if when he gets on the road, IF he keeps his distance, and NO agressive driving, He WILL do fine.

Hey Wargames, you are definitely right about me not being a young guy. I'm not all that old either. I passed my road test last week and turned 40 a few days later. I like your idea about the backing up to 50 doors a day for training. I'm still a bit iffy with backing in, I definitely don't do it nice and smooth like a pro, but then again, I'm not a pro. I'm a rookie. I know there will be a day down the road where I'll laugh at myself for ever having difficulty.
