Always wondered in this type of situation;
Who is going to pay for the damage to the truck?
Could the driver/company be sued by the criminal for injuries?
If the law enforcement asks for help, do they become liable? -
First if I am not mistaken--this is a few years old--I am sure I saw it while back--other than being a good samaratan--Im sure it will open a can of worms--not saying you should not get involved--but Im betting there are going to be some major hurdles for these drivers--between lawyers--insurance companies--etc....and since they look like identical company trucks--no telling how the boss is going to react to his good citizen drivers--with his equipment--
Hope all goes well--just have my doubts -
I have seen trucks get together and block all lanes to slow down the fleeting car,I never saw 2 trucks pin a car like that before.

No way would I wreck my truck trying to stop a fleeing criminal, as it is not my job to stop fleeing criminals. I don't care if a cop asked me to or not....and if I hired someone to drive my truck and they pulled a stunt like that, they'd be fired as soon as I caught wind of it. There is no reason to intentionally crash a truck into anything or anybody. Ever.
The cop has a radio. He can use it to call his cop buddies for help...they can use their own vehicles to set up whatever road block they want to...but if they are counting on my truck being part of their plan, they are going to be disappointed. -
Can't argue with you there--I was just giving the OP my opinion on his question--would prefer to be in another state when that is going on

I agree that's what spike strips, PIT manuevers and radio aheads are for. It would be just like getting the great accomodation from the paper or the news and the pink slip once you get back to the fort. Not to mention by being a good samaritan you could kill somebody-kinda of stupid to me but that's just my soapbox moment. Drive safe!

That's an old video, I remember seeing the driver in an interview after it happened and he said he was just trying to get out of the way. Didn't look that way to me though.
-
Exactly what I would have said.
No one can prove you did anything wrong and thentire mishap becomes the fault of the fleeing, reckless driver ramming into you. -
Old friend of mine was in one of those video's.
He was in the one in Atl. area.He moved over and they caught the guy.
He saw they had him on the ground by his right rear trl. axle.
Thought he was good to go, so he left.
Several years later he's watching the tv and sees the chase scene.Hey that's me and my trk.
He calls the cops asking about getting a copy of it and then he recieves a lawsuit notice..
Seems he ran over one of the cops foot when they had the bad guy on the ground.
So now the cop was wanting to sue him and they were hinting at pressing charges of hit and run..
