MAINE....Maine trailer.........the home state of haul heavy with 5 or 6 axles.
Other than an extra axle just how dose one "beef up" a 53 foot van? Van trailers backbone is the roof.

On a side note....Thats one chitty sounding CB echo box, in the first second of the video, as most are.

The floor is made heavier to withstand the live load of a forklift and paper rolls. The walls instead of the quarter inch plywood are generally made with half inch. It looks like a standard trailer. I didnt know about them either till I asked.

So please stop shooting the messenger.

you think an extra 1/4" of wood is going to stop a HUGE roll of paper! :biggrin_2559:

    I haven't loaded my gun....yet.

But a heavier floor and thicker walls are made to with stand the loading and unloading. The roof of a van is what keeps the trailer from breaking in half while going down the road.
if you ever get a chance to look above a lot full of van trailers from say a second story floor of a building it no trouble to tell by looking at the roofs of trailers the empties from the loaded ones.

ever watched the underside of a trailer flex when those paper roll toting forklifts come flying up into a trailer with a 6k roll of paper? It seems like the floor sinks 6 inches:biggrin_2554:

I saw a Pumpkin do this a few years back... west of Madison on 151 somewhere, a long steep uphill ramp. Must have stopped to cool a tire, and when he let out the clutch, 3 of those 6' diameter rolls came out the back doors. Latching those back doors was gonna be an issue after that!

Why in the heck does the Postal service need special trailers to haul mail? Why do they make pulp trailers differently? Why do they make alot of stuff you are not familiar with?

Your asking the wrong person. I am not a trailer salesman. Since it seems too hard for you to contact Maine Trailer I will do it for you to get some clarification since you seem to enjoy shooting the messenger.
