I don't know if it's due to the petroleum smell or the loud V12 diesel Frac pumps, but I have yet to see a snake on location. Those V12s just idling make enough noise/vibrations to probably scare anything off...except cows. We had a bull with a couple of girlfriends wondering around a site once. Now if you end up off site say to use the restroom or smoke etc, take caution.

Anyhow, my best advice to anyone thinking about Fracing, always take plenty of food and water...enough for like 36hrs. A lot of Fracing companies supply water and sometimes will cater food. But I wouldn't depend on the cater truck. You may end up in a location without catering services or areas just to hard to reach etc. That and work for a good company like Pioneer and BJ etc.

Ps, if your company ends up catering for you guys, don't for get your friendly fuel guy:biggrin_255:

About the only time I remember snakes on location would be when we'd move a rig that'd been stacked awhile. At night they're most likely out in the grass hunting.

I never had a problem with snakes on location, getting in and out of the truck to open and close gates on the locations that don't have a gate guard is a different story. Just remember that snakes are just afraid of you asa you are of then. Don't corner one and usually they will leave you alone. Svoray had some good advice, almost every load I hauled for frac tech I ended up sitting for 24-48 hours before I could blow off.

Night vision goggles, throw fire crackers out the window first, bring about 6 cats with you, take some lot lizards with you they are more deadly then the snakes.

Wear goober glasses, do your makeup like Mimi in the Drew Carrey Show, wear your skirt or pants pulled up to your bossom and get a pair of combat boots. This will keep any girl safe from "snakes."

Oh. Wait. Wrong kind of snake...
