Wise to take a week off between getting my cdl and starting at a company?

I passed and got my CDL on the 18th and am slated to start orientation on the 31st. Is that too long to wait in between getting my cdl and starting with somebody? I could have gone on the 23rd but I wasn't sure I was going to pass my test.

Now, why do I get a hint of sarcasm out of this?...

No sarcasm here-taking a break is a pretty good idea--then go to orientation--well rested--relaxed and ready for your next adventure

Did not know that. I was thinking the poster was being sarcastic, not to mention I was half asleep when I wrote it

I took a week, didn't hurt me any. I think it's fairly common among those who aren't desperate for paychecks ASAP. Figure most students go away to school, and then you go away for orientation and training. Taking a week in between can let you catch up on stuff at home.

For some reason some of the companies said it has to be with a month after school. Do they think I am going to forget. Been doing it for 6 years.

It's like with the job history. If you just got your CDL then you only have to go back 3 years. If you do have one you have to go back 10 years but they need experience for the past 5 years. Whats up with that?

Take the time off if possible.

Sad when you see some newbies all stressed out and hear the " BEEN 8 WEEKS " since I was home stories.
