I am glad that they are working on cleaning up their safety record. I figured that would be the case. They may become more selective in those whom they recruit in an effort to improve their safety record.

I see drivers and some owner operators come on this and other forums and trash their companies. In most cases it is the driver rather than the company if you look under the surface. Some people are not willing to take responsibility for their own actions. It is easier to blame others for our shortcomings. Some people don't know how to run a business or manage their time. Most drivers want to be an owner operator. Not everyone is qualified. There is more to being an owner operator than buying a truck. You need to know how to manage your time and be able to find decent paying loads. Some freight lanes are better than others. I have known some owner operators who insist on running the left coast, but the lanes they run are very competitive. Freight is not as plentiful and doesn't pay well as other areas of the country, yet they continue to run those areas where they know freight is sparse. A good businessman will maximize his efforts. He will stay in the better paying freight areas. It won't make as much difference if the owner operator is paid for all miles and the rate is the same. If the owner operator is paid percentage, then it could greatly affect his bottom line.

Again I agree. I would love to run down out West, but that isn't where the money is to be made over here. Later this Summer I will head out West to visit family, but I will go out there knowing full well that I will basically just pay for fuel coming back.

I'm not trying to say that CRST Malone is the worst O/O company out there, by any means, I obviously made a living there, or I wouldn't have lasted a year. I'm just saying that if you compare them to other large O/O companies, they come up short. The feeling I got about the safety department at CRST was that they were trying to clean up from years of previous safety departments being lax with log violations. They are doing better, but are still worse than average, and the last time I got DOT'd when I was with them, the scalemaster told me I got pulled in because CRST Malone was on their mandatory inspect list. While their bad safety rating might not be the direct fault of CRST Malone, it's certainly not the fault of someone looking for a company to lease on to, and it should be taken into consideration. FWIW, I've been DOT'd once since getting my authority in August, same truck, same trailer.

Snowman yes they know who is LP and who is owner opps by there truck # the LP drivers has W in the front of there #s. As far as getting out of bed dude give me a freaking break if you have a truck and ins. maintenance and a family to provide for I really don't think you are not going to hustle and get loads so don't judge until you have been at crst to know how it works there!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to say that when I first was there it was great but for the last month there it has been terrible I really didn't want to leave but like I said I have a truck note insurance maintenance and a family to provide for and i just didn't like taking the cheap loads anymore so I left for making money not the company. So if you like working your ### off for free then crst is the place for you. You will have to tarp just about every load you have and there is no extra pay for tarping on 80% of the loads so just another free bee.

Company drivers get tarp pay. Go work for Mc Elroy if you want tarp pay. Flatbed freight that always gets tarped has it included in the rate just for simplicity. However this means Malone gets 25% of my tarp tarp fee. Dems da breaks. If you don't like it don't put it on your trailer. If it pays me $3/mi I'll tarp it free.

I have a friend who leased to them for a very short time. He only wanted to run about 3 or 4 states. He mostly wanted to run Ohio and Pennsylvania. He didn't make any money with them, but even he now admits that it wasn't CRST Malone, but him that was at fault. I have another friend who did do well with them. And as I have stated on the other CRST Malone I leased to them for 2 or 3 years and did well.

Hahaha, listen...its not my fault your mad at crst. maybe you did bust your ### and maybe you didnt. tell you the truth, i dont give a ####. But one things for certain, if your so far in debt between your truck, family, mat. and insurance that you cant afford to take a 1.60 a mile load every now and again, then i guess i just have to feel bad for ya at this point. IM NOT SAYIN WE NEED TO HAUL CHEAP ALL THE TIME. none of want to, and none of us should have to. MAN TAKE A LOOK AT THE COUNTRY!!! you actually think with the economy the way it is that shippers and trucking companys arent gonna take advantage of us? do you think your gonna get the best of the best of loads all the time? with things the way they are, you my friend, need to seel your truck, get rid of your expenses and go to walmart where you can have a safe, dependable job with no worries. See, then that way you dont have to come on here and complain to eveyone why you cant make it at a place where alot of guys are.I'M NOT SAYIN CRST IS THE BEST COMPANY, OR EVEN GOOD COMPANY. By the way, if you read my post from a page or so eariler, you would see where i wrote, I DONT WORK THERE, SO I DONT KNOW! I am sayin though, that a know a few guys that work there, and i know how they do. they might have alot less overhead than you do. dont really know.dont really care, but if your gonna complain about tarping and load and you pull flatbed? is that CRSTs fault too? maybe you should go further into debt and get a conastga or coverd wagon.....but good luck to ya though. and there are still some good companys out there where the rates are good most of the time. just gotta find'em.
