1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

And that's why they are on salary PLUS comission. If you do nothing you get the minimum and when you produce you can make 65k...I'm all over that all day long. That job would look better on your resume any day of the week over doing general freight.

    What is is you want?
On operating a vacuum truck there is also experience that could count in some industries some time in the future.
IMO a bit of psychical exercise that you are been paid for is a perk.
To many OTR drivers suffering health problems because of no exercise and no free time to get some.
As stated by mgfg with the vacuum truck you will also likely be treated better.
If your heart is set on OTR then Big Don is correct that the vacuum job wont count for much.
I think that with a vacuum truck you may be exposed to a verity of different locations and industries.
It is out of exposure to these diverse things that opportunity arises.
All depends what you are looking for.

you mean 60 a day.. its just concerning that over half my pay would be "commission" or whatever. 16 an hour isnt great but its overtime time and a half and stable income

    Thats just me.
Something a bit different to what everyone els does.
Earnings also depend more on your own performance.

Here is another thing to consider...week 1 start at noon...week 2 start at midnight...week 3 start at mid afternoon. Can you handle the wear and tear on your sleep pattern. That could be a killer of a schedule over a period of time. Do you have any idea what the hours per week would be? With any amount of OT it could be very good. Figure the avg amount of OT to get your weekly pay for each week then divide the nbr of hours into it for avg pay per hour. How does that compare to the first job?

Both jobs have good and bad points, tough call, but its your call.

Good luck from a ol PA (Doylestown) boy.

I imagine it's about 50 hours a week. i dont know how ill adjust with that type of schedule. at this point i just want experience to get me started, so that should i decide i dont like it, i only need 6 months or a year or anything like that to be able to work virtually anywhere. right? doylestown isnt too far off from me. where do you work

edit: youre not there anymore i see haha

pay breaks down this way. vacuum truck 300 a week + 4% commission
this job running line haul stuff is 16 an hour

That is one CLEAN sewer sucking service truck! Must not have been put into service yet. I'll take the freight job over rancid grease traps anyday, just my personal choice.Been there, done that.
