    Go with Crete, do NOT go with CR England as you will be changed for life...and not for the better if you do. I've got to hand it to Crete, they really aren't that bad of a company at all.

    Skull, man....aggghhhh. The very fact that CRE had to be sued says a hell of a lot, brother. And this is a lawsuit CRE JUST lost, as in the past month. They didn't lose it ten years ago. Read the link to the story and see how many drivers were involved. It's also a reflection on CRE that it puts up so much resistance that hundreds, even thousands, of drivers are needed to win a case such as this, a case in which every one of those drivers is in the right.

    I bet they will, brother Skull. I bet they will. Then it'll take another thousand drivers on top of the others to win the suit. If CRE does appeal, all those ex-OOs who've been ripped off need to descend on the CRE terminal and burn it to the ground in protest. If you figure up how much those guys were ripped for, it's gotta be in the hundreds of thousands.

    I am a lease operator for CR England, yes many changes have been made to the company now after such a long hard struggle, the lease payments are now also decreasing as I recently saw a lease for 459.00 a week whereas many are paying 614 and 641 a week. then with both comes the 137'ish insurance per week. I am personally on the fuel cap program which means I pay 1.25 per gallon though England pays the reefer fuel. My only real complaint with the company, is its feast one week and famine the next, I go from checks ranging in the 800-1400 dollar range to being in the hole 100-600 dollars, this is widely dependent on the miles, which honestly I normally get more then my fair share. However, I do admit I get many more when I take a Cat 2nd Seat, (trainee of sorts) I am not a regular trainer, but its just a program that makes little sense to me. I was recently talking to a older driver that knew the Englands back when they had only 100 trucks, and he said on the highway they were then known as the Mormon Mafia, this could be or might not be, only those from back then knew. I will say this, I like England for a lot of reasons, though my wife does not, she hates how they do their book keeping. Recently my fleet and one other won a contest, we are suppose to receive free idleair until sept 16th, I just looked at my settlement and I was charged for those times I used it so far though I "Won" free idleair, that I will take up with Payroll tommorrow. The reason mainly right now I am feast or famine, is that my front end was clipped by a driver of a company that needs to swing wide its (a) frigging trailer. The entire costs were added to my "owed" to England for repairs, though I was asleep and the driver accepted liability. Repairs had to be done so I could continue to drive. So that put me nearly 3k in the whole to England, though the other company has sent me a check, I should receive shortly for that same expense so I am being reimbursed. The one thing though that I see time and again. As Drivers we need to look at what perhaps we are doing wrong to make things not work properly. Yes our DM's are our lifeline, and with England my DM and I butt heads but he always truely does me right. Though recently he has been on alot of vacation time so I have to deal with left overs from other DM's watching our fleet. This business is harsh in many manners, the main one being you have to always cover your butt, and another is you must always look a any situation and see if there was a different way to go about it. Its Self that we have to look at mostly not the lies and deception. Though those come in an abundance. So every top name company out there the big companies will always have some people complaining about them, but then again, the entire world cant be satisfied with everything. As you can tell I prefer intellectual and numbers and self observation about things, and am willing to help and talk to any who want to know about England but always remember its up to you.

    Just somethings to think about.

    Hey Alpha..
    thx for the post.. brother I'm torn. I've just come out of a NIGHTMARE "training" situation with another company and am pretty disgusted. Been out of trucking since 98, but I'm experienced and felt as though I'd been left back a grade. England was one of the original companies I applied to (along with Central Refrigerated).. man I wish I had gone with either one rather than the idiot I landed with. For those of you who freak put about a D.A.C... I wound up having my FIRST EVER backing accident while in training with this goober. I was finally put out of the truck and was left to pay the majority of my own expenses home to Central New York having been dismissed from the program, supposedly for the accident. Its kind of complicated and I won't go in to why I think I was truly dismissed, but this company had slammed my D.A.C. before I even got off the train. Fortunately, the safety dept had sent me a "warning" letter stating that I "may" be suspended or dismissed if I had another wreck. It was stupid, but I think I sub subconsciously mowed down a sign to get out of the truck and be no longer obligated for school costs. I was so paranoid about my D.A.C. and have been applying furiously. If any of you guys are in a similar situation, go to classadrivers.com and fill out an app. - they will blast it out to companies who have specified certain criteria. The biggest thing in this is to be HONEST and persevere - NO ONE is going to hold your hand.

    I found a local company (waiting to hear back) that hauls trash between Waterloo NY. and Queens, NY. Don't laugh guys and girls - it pays #### good and you can be home week-ends. Best part was when I mentioned my D.A.C. and they said "What's a D.A.C.?".. I almost fell out.. gotta love it.

    Anyway... I called England back and they didn't seem to enthused about my "new" D.A.C. rating.. I sent them the letter and got an email back today, saying I had been cleared to schedule for orientation. I think Patricia over in recruiting likes me :-}.. I hear guys crying constantly over England, but it seems for the most part they are newbies who are simply dis enchanted - who don't know what trucking is all about to begin with. I say to them - go home; you're just adding to the aggravation out here. Man oh man, has trucking changed.. I shouldn't say trucking itself, but the quality and attitude of drivers is definitely in the toilet, especiallly in the N.E. corridors where I have been running, The insurance companies have gotten ridiculous and the new logging rules just plain suck. That said - this is still a job you have to love to succeed.

    Where Im most concerned with England is leasing right out of the gate. I have mega bills and can't afford to dink around. I believe leasing can have its advantages, i.e. priority dispatch, but after coming out of a 2007 KW that has had nothing but problems, Im concerned with things like the truck breaking down. These manufacturers have been cranking out more than the factories can handle, as everyone scrambles to buy new trucks before even more strict emission standards go in to effect. Also with things like the guy hitting you and YOU being penalized by England. I guess this whole post boils down to a question on the reliability of your truck and whether you started as company driver or LO?..

    As we speak - my phone rang. It was England. Guess they really do want me now lol. Decisions Decisions - appreciate your reply. Keep the shiny side up over there and maybe we'll see ya ridin down the road in one of those shiny red trucks.

    Hey Brokenarrow;
    Me? I started in LO situation, and yes I know I am being fleeced by it all, however, running as I do I make more then the Co drivers mostly not all but most. I guess it also boils down to peoples situations. I do not have any bills other than 720.00 a year in storage and whatever I use on my cell, plus living expenses as my wife and I live in my truck. I know that most new drivers, do not listen to everything, they hear what they want and edit out the rest in their own hearing of the england schooling, but they live and learn and then complain alot, do not get me wrong I could have much I could complain about myself however, I realize alot of it was my own doing. So I chalk it up to a lesson learned and how to avoid it in the future. I am currently now looking for a second seat permanently so that I can run more miles and make a bit more but all in all once I get things straightened out things will move forward. My wife once we get a couple of non-moving violations cleared up on her license will also be getting her own cdl for relief driving. In truth, All companies usually have bad things about them, it is just what you can put up with. I have looked at other companies, and in the end, all have pro's and con's . Myself I have a couple of felony convictions from over 10 years ago, however that does stop me from crossing the canadian border, which england no longer does. So I have other limitations others do not, but all in all I like what I do, and like who I work for, they just have one bad tendency that most do, they do not let you know things up front so I always expect the worse and hope for the best just one of my own life lessons. If you ever need to know anything just holler and I will be more then happy to answer.
