Hello
I am the owner in a trucking company in my country ( Colombia ), right now Im willing to buy 2 new trucks wich will be carring oil from the oil wells to the Maritime Port, but i have to decide if I go with the Kenworth T800 or the Kenworth T660, We have some conditions that you wont find in USA
1. 250 milles with bad roads
2. Petroleum to expensive ( aproximetly usd$ 5.00 per gallon )
3. Truckers cant sleep inside the trucks.
4. most of the times the roads are mountains
according to this I dont mind if the truck comes with bed or not, but it is very very important the fuel consumption, does any one have a comparative betwen MPG on those 2 trucks. Also as it will go on mountains it is very important the engine performance.
Thanks in advance
PD Please remember english is not my native english so probably i will have spelling errors.
Decision: Kenworth T800 or the Kenworth T660?

Based on the 4 parameters, either truck will do the job.
Curious about #3: Why can't the drivers sleep in the trucks? Is this due to legal reasons? -
With 250 miles of bad mountainous roads in the mountains the choice for me would be hands down the t800 because I believe they hold up to the abuse better. I run a fleet of them in the oilfield and they perform better than anything else I have tried. As for the motor I would spec a big horse cummins and an 18 spd transmission with no higher than 3.90 rears.

Well its long to explain but to summarize:
Colombian customs charge lost of money for importation charges, I recently bought a truck in the USA, I paid 97.000 usd for the truck and 52.000 usd for importation Taxes, for that reason we do not import luxuries trucks or the cost will be higher. So most of the trucks dont have beds as you have in the USA, if we allowed the drivers to sleep on the truck they wont have the rest they need for the work.
So yes its a Law we have on the constitution. -
I have heard that T660 has a better MPG due to its aerodynamics, does anyone has any information on this?

We can not import used vehicles. -
T 800 hands down. Best all around truck going. 660 aero will not do you any good in conditions you described. 800 is tough. turns well. can be set up more ways than any other truck around.
The Challenger Thanks this.
