It is a 379, it has metal doors etc. The mirror brackets are grounded from the factory but I had added another ground from the brackets to the door and another ground from the door to the cab (across the hinge). I did this a few years ago. I also grounded the hood (metal) and I had run extra ground straping from the frame to the cab and from the motor to the frame and cab.

It sounds like you've covered everything. New coax and antennas. Clean grounds and power. If the alt/batts check out, the only thing left is the radio.

It pisses me off, I tried to get our shop to check the bats out yesterday. All he did was hook up a meter with the truck running to see what the voltage was. And he made it seem like that was an unneeded chore. I am going to try and swing by my brothers and grab my load tester this morning and go in early and load test the bats myself.
I have a feeling that one of the bats might have gone south because my voltage will drop quickly down to a tad over 12 volts. I mean it only takes a couple minutes at most.
I want to fine tune the antennas but I need to make sure this issue is fixed first. I am sure both whips need to be trimmed a little because swr is a little higher on 20 and 40 then it is on 1. But when the truck is running it is high across the board.
I thought I had another stock cobra here but I had forgotten that I had "borrowed" it to another driver over a year ago and never got it back and now that driver is gone. I am done borrowing #### to other people.
