I swear, it seems like even when you follow all of the rules, you make one mistake, and it ruins you.

I applied to a trucking school (Millis). Seemed like a great opportunity but they DQ'ed me because my license got suspended a few months ago for failure to appear in court for some tickets (seatbelt violation and following too close which resulted in a MINOR accident...I'm talking, scratch on the bumper, not even a dent). I simply forgot about them. My fault yes, but still. They said since it was suspended for more than 30 days, they can't let me in. The only reason it went on like it did was b/c I had to keep continuing my case in order to save up the money to pay the tickets and fees. Had I had the money RIGHT when I found out that my license had been suspended, I would qualify. I ti didn't pass the limit due to a court ordered punishment, it simply took me some time to come up with the cash, seeing as how I was (and still am) working for $8.00/hour part-time.

Are all schools this strict and stone-cold when it comes to records? Should I just give it up? I mean I've heard of felons getting trucking jobs, but THIS is keeping me out of trucking school...it just seems stupid. I live in Georgia. Does anyone know of any other trucking schools that know how to handle people on a CASE BY CASE basis? Or is this the typical rule with trucking schools and am I just wasting my time? Keep in mind, I have no criminal record, and my driving record is spotless save for those two tickets mentioned earlier, and the tickets have since been paid and license renewed.

During training, at a trucking school of any kind, you will need to actually drive a truck,,on the road,,to train, right? Well by law, you have to have a liscense to do this. Since you don't have a liscense than you cant train,,end of story. Pay your fines, get your liscense back and reapply. Wish you the best.

Better they dq you from school rather then accept you, get trained, get your CDL, then find out you wasted your money because you can't get hired because you have a license suspension on your MVR.

Very last sentence tells you that I've cleared the tickets and renewed my license.

Most carriers won't touch this guy with a license suspension for 3 years. It really doesn't matter what its for... plus there's the accident, plus the following too close.

Especially with a pool of applicants without these kinds of problems...

you can always try another school or try a company training program, but no one can predict if you will be accepted or denied. many trucking companies may not even consider you for a job as someone else stated. it's a tough call, but if you can, then wait at least 6 months and re-apply. at least in that amount of time, you can go on working whatever job you have now, or get a better one, and concentrate on keeping your license and background clean...
