I have never had a properly fitted stater come loose on a Euro truck.
The bumpers and other parts don't fall off.
On bad roads the American trucks are real rattle traps.
Euro are just put together differently.
On american trucks everything seems to be bolted together.
That comes with the territory of bespoke trucks I suppose.
The up side is that you can usually just tighten things up or bolt them back together and carry on.
On a Euro truck things are a bit more complicated and cost more when they do go wrong.
Our American trucks spend more time been worked on but usually simple quick things that any monkey can do.
Our Euro trucks have less issues but when they do we often need to call in specialists.
The American trucks are cheaper to start with so as a business owner there is no clear winner.
When it comes to living space there is no comparison.
Trucks produced for OTR in the US have way more room.
A Volvo as supplied in the US is not a Euro truck , the Volvo's in Europe are completely different.
Is is an American truck.
If your definition of an American truck is truck completely conceived ,designed and manufactured in the US with all US component's / raw materials.
There isn't one , never was one.
Is the OP talking about a style of truck , the heritage , where if is manufactured or what?
To you guys having an international hair pulling contest , remember that cutting off your opponents head doesn't make you look taller.
It is however very funny to observe so don't let me get in the way.
Think of it this way.
What would you rather have?
A good looking wife all dolled up full of bling shouting to everyone look at me.
OR.
An understated dependable wife that not many would want to spend a night in.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

yeahh, I undestand, but compare 60 cm wit freighlinel nose lenth + conv. truck cabine may move back too!
So Europeans have to buil mre tought cabines, with tought steel substructure. and what... international 9400 cabine is concidered weak, but in this kind of collisions - less damage in cabine.
the good thing, that europeans have to make tought cabines and when truck roll UE cab is better -
what would the price in us dollars be for sayyyy otr scania?
i know the wages in canada (41 cpm) were not even close to brit drivers wages--but they said the good part was that it is sooo much cheaper to live in north america
i would love to try and drive a scania or similiar truck and compare what the differences are between driving and maintenance on the two
i agree they are probely more advances in just about every system--but as for looks---still cant even come close to a long low pete or kw
still comes back to the anology--want a fat ugly girl who can cook and keep the house clean,,, or do you want a skinny beautiful girl that cant do anything and isnt the brightest----well i can always eat in restaraunts i guessStrider Thanks this. -
i dont know what is otr
but scania is not fleet car it is more for owner operators
scania have its charisma if you look trucks for about 600hp scania sold more than half of all european market if you look truck shows and things like this maybe 80% are scanias
scania here is something like pete in US
average fleet truck cost 75000 which is 107 650$ ( this is mid size cab 1700lb ft engine hydraulic retarder automated transmission some medium equipment )
so this is truck like this
if you want something for soul you will need v8 engine topline cab alloy wheels more equipment and get something like this
so this cost about 132000$
top equipped truck r730 will cost about 205000$( for 4x2 version) -
In the USA prices are much lower.... So living in the UK is an expencve deal! It is not all! streets are narrower, cars are smaller, they say English I cant understand sometimes, they call sidewalk pavement! They call semi articulated lorry!!!
To many emigrants from India and from Mid East, many of them do not speak English well.
Englishmen drink a lot like Russians and be involved in drunk fights. But seems to me they really enjoy this time....
Trucks in UK are generally European with with push steer axe, they haul many containers, very heavy!
Domestic UK trucks are mix or European and US. ERF usually with Cummins engine, eaton transmission, MAN TGA frame and MAN F2000 cabine styled a bit.
Some trucks like BMC are so exotic and exported to Africa and Mid East.
And all trucks are with RHD! -
also short wheelbase can be useful in this

i can sum it up pretty succinctly :
Looks and stupidity; Here in america we put high emphasis on appearance and being macho because we are stupid. Your euro trucks don't look good to us and don't give off a sense of machoness. YOur trucks are designed for efficiency first and to a lot of americans, they look feminine.
For us appearance is more important than efficiency. Also, here we emphasize length. As in the longer the better even though this results in no appreciable benefit because, again, we are stupid mofos.
So, really this is your answer. -
That actually looks like a cool truck. Sleeper upstairs? Neat
