Should be aint a good excuse. Did it occur to you to slow down when you saw the sign? Maybe then you could have been at proper speed before buddy saw you. Regardless, even if it was 70 like you say it should be, you were still waaaay over. Maybe race car driver would be more suitable?

But the way I see it, 98 in a 50 is NEAR DOUBLE!!!

Now look at the number of years you have been driving that you have been ticketed. Is it like 1:1 ratio? Meaning one ticket for each year, or maybe 1:2?

I have (luckily, cause I do the usual 5-10 over to keep even with traffic, in my car) 0:30 ratio of tickets to years driving.

I'm not bragging, or rubbing your nose in it. Just letting you know the choices employers have in the way of applicants and what each will cost on the company insurance.

Maybe what saved me was that I did my racing in High performance go karts. The car I had could not compare to actual on track racing.

You mean all you got was a ticket? Around here doing 40 over the limit would get your car towed and impounded for a little while; and you would be lucky to not have to start over with your GLP...


And I'm not trying to come across as a douche, but knowing that I want to get my class 1 when I turn 19 has kept me driving smart. I mean, I have a ticket, nobodies perfect, but it wasn't a moving violation, I forgot to transfer my N from my truck to my parents car picking up my drunk sister/her friend one night.

 

That looks like just a standard ticket to me. I don't know about the east coast, but in both MB and SK, all your abstract will show is that you were speeding, not that you were nearly double the legal limit.

As for the speed limit being too low there, no it isn't. The speed limit is what they set it at, and whether you agree with it or not, you have to obey it or face the consequences.

I'm not going to rag on you about this...I did some incredibly stupid things in cars when I was your age. When I was much older too. Mostly I got away with it too. I finally smartened up. If you want to be a professional driver though...whether it's driving truck or delivering pizza...you have to protect your license. That means following the rules. If you don't agree with the rules, lobby your local political representatives to have the rules changed, but until that change takes place, follow the rules.

 

Panic at getting caught would be my guess. It's kind of a natural reaction. Nothing to be ashamed of as long as you take responsibility and learn from it.
