I ran out of a Wal-Mart DC for almost 2 years. It is absolutely insane the way they load the pallets. If you were to complain and follow their reporting system, it seemed to get worse. I asked about their pick process, and they had a long explanation on how they fine tuned that process over the years and how efficient it is!!! In a WM DC, everything is based on time. I also was told by many management ppl that they dont care how much stuff is damaged because between insurance and vendor credits, they are repayed for every single item lost, there fault or not. Not sure about insurance, but the vendor/food supplier credits are true as we used to haul back the empty cartons to the DC.

I worked at the wal mart d.c. in gas city indiana for 2 years , and I have heard some horror stories about the way some of the pallets were loaded. they didn't care how it was loaded as long as you picked the product quick enough ,luckily i was trained the right way to stack my pallets , but I saw way to many people stacking 50 pound bags of potatoes on top of boxes of chocolate and they would wrap a whole roll of shrink wrap around it to keep it from falling over and half the time the boxes under the potatoes would get crushed and the whole load would end up on the ground.so i would hate to see them after arriving at the stores

Isn't it nice to be able to do that, IP? It is raining in New England all day today, like yesterday, and we are looking forward to some sunshine somewhere else tomorrow!

Laramie, WY headed to SLC

Decatur, IL at the Pilot right now. Had a load with way too much time on it going to Macon, MO that I'm letting my trainee run as a solo so he has a full trip to plan out and deliver by himself before I take him into the yard tomorrow. Will also get myself a 34 before headed towards VA to pick up my girlfriend for a month (or we drive each other completely insane, whichever comes first). For now, just sitting and listening to DMB.

He is on his way to Cleveland TN with a Hershey load, then home to Dickson TN for a long needed home time!!

It isn't the first time... outside of getting out of Florida or my FM has a plan in mind, if the per-mile rate is below my average bottom line - its a no thanks.
Got a better paying load (not a heckofa lot better though) out of Tar Heel last night. At Canton NC TA... delivering to Owensboro KY in the AM. -
Sitting at Con Agra in Macon, Mo on the second load in a row that Perdue has effed up. On my last load they scheduled 2 delivery's that were 75 miles apart within 2 hours of each other, which would have required Burris in Elkton, MD to unload their 8 pallets in 15 minutes, which didn't happen. That made me an hour late for my next stop, which took forever to unload, and I ended up racing to get to my final stop and made it there with less than 5 minutes to spare.
Now on this load they sent Prime an appt for Macon at 10 this morning. Being that it picked up on Saturday, it had plenty of time for a solo with that appointment, let alone a team. So I get here this morning and find out that Perdue actually scheduled it for TOMORROW at 10. So here I sit. They said they would try to take it today, but no guarantee. -
