E logs and EOBRs are nothing more than a way for the government to take more control and stick their noses where they shouldn't be, plain and simple, and most people are content just to bend over and take it because their newbies and don't know any better or their to lazy to fill out paper logs and think it's just one less thing their lazy ##### have to do. They have not and will not make things safer in any way, stupid people will still be stupid, nothin a computer can do about that.

eLogs are just a tool to be used. If a company chooses to be responsible and has the resource it can use this tool to identify which drivers will need some remedial training. With that being said eLogs will only identify compliance with the HOS. If you use that in conjunction with the OER and other source of data you may be able to cover about 15% of the issues your drivers may have. Changing behaviors is a long a difficult process at best.

If a company chooses to use them that is fine, but I don't think that they should be mandatory and the government needs to stay out of it.

The only time the govt needs to get involved is when a carrier has demonstrated that they cannot remain compliant. Then by all means they should step in and mandate a change or place the company out of business.

It is amazing to me how some people can twist themselves into such a Gordian knot that they can't even see for themselves the paradoxical statements they make.

Boy did I stir the nest ! I just got out of a labor board hearing the driver "ME" refused to drive after 11 and told management " to stuff it" the law says stop so I stopped at 10 hrs 55 mins per paper log's as we were discussing this the company attorney suddenly asked for a break and left the room when my copies of the logs came out. next thing I know they are asking me if I want to settle this NOW!. I asked my advisor and said to take it as it was better than the state would give and faster. I can't say how much but I wont need a job for several months. and the dispatcher is looking for a job as of today according to friends working there! I know its not on point, but it does prove that you can run legal and get support for it.
