16+ yrs driving. It was a blessing getting on with Maverick so I could be home more. Theres not a minute goes by that I didnt wish I were home, but lets be real,if you're working 8+hrs a day plus commute time then your "time" at home isnt much through the week. More like come home shower eat goto bed. Been there done that years ago. Do I wish I could be home more? Sure but I'd have to win the lottery first lol. Im betting its the same with you especially if you're doin OT. Now pay wise $16/hr sounds good but depending on what your benefits cost you and whether or not the wife works then 16/hr isnt all that great anymore. Once upon a time it was great pay but thats 15+yrs behind us now. Our average driver here grosses $45-52k/yr. I say talk it over with the fam get your facts and questions answered then make an informed choice and never look back. Sure trucking is tough but nothing worth while is easy. JM2C

My day starts by getting up at 4AM. Leaving for work and working til 6PM every day including Saturday. I have no time with my wife because I'm so tired when I get in that all I do is eat, shower and go to bed and get ready to do it again the next day. She works too so our schedules aren't the same so we don't get much time together anyway. I feel that I would have more time working with Maverick to be with my wife.

keep in mind that a " weekend" with Maverick is usually home late on Friday and leaving out on Sunday afternoon, it's not a typical Friday to Monday weekend. some will be shorter, a few longer, and unfortionatly some...not at all

you are right jimmy, $800 a week is not wothmaking for OTR flatbed. after eating, smoking, tax etc you get 500 a week. you can make that much money working M-F and everyday home.:biggrin_25513:

I dont know where you dug that post up from but he sounds like someone who couldnt hack it here because those of us that have been here any length of time will tell you he's full of it. Never sits? Yeah sure. Tell me another. Same goes for never a check under $900 take home. I dont know that may be true if he just started somewhere new. As for turn over rates he had better do some checkin,we have the lowest turnover rate for any flatbed carrier with more than a few trucks. Theres a lot of bottom churn but if there wasnt then d**kweeds like him would still be workin here beachin about everything. Im glad when those drivers leave because I cant stand cry babies tryin to do a mans job.

he's been quiet for a while don't wake up the Dragon. A man that makes as much money as he does would have better things to do,then come on this board. And say how bad it was when he worked at maverick.

Sounds like a Sand Hauler except we get up at 0500-0700 depending on what we're doing that day and may get home as late as midnight. We never know when our days off will be (we are off this weekend).

Right now we're busy and it looks like we're going to stay that way for a while. We prefilled our next well yesterday for a Monday kick off. Because of the distance between the staging pad and the well, this may be a tough one to keep up with, depending on where we have to go to get sand.
