Hey all, new guy here with a problem.

I have my CDL A but have not drove a truck in almost 5 years and that is keeping me from getting a driving job, even Werner turned me down.

I was wondering if there was any company that will hire me or what I would have to do short of going through school again to get back into trucking.

The school I attended some years back offered a free refresher course, not sure if they offer that now or not, but would that help me any..??

    Thanks.

Yes, check into the refresher course - having recently graduated from the course would help you, I'm sure.

Avoid CRE, by all means, but I'll give an example - they offer a 10-day refresher/training session with a regular trainer, then release you to solo or whatever. Again, avoid CRE, but some other companies may have similar programs.

Depends on what you're looking at hauling i.e. Van, Flatbed, Tanker
Most companies like TMC, BTC, FFE possibly Schneider would be willing to bring you on with a refresher course to satisfy their bogus insurance requirements. All will have afee ranging from a couple thousand to several and almost all will have some kind of employment commitment. However with the CDL portion out of the way then the refresher timeframe will be undoubtedly shorter. Hope this helps and good luck going forward!!

    Thanks for the answers guys,

I'm just wanting to drag van around but if I have to pull a flatbed or refer to get back into the game I will. I would commit to a company for the refresher as long as they wouldn't abuse me then move on to something better, was very surprised at how hard it is to get a foot back in the door..!!
