It's been a while since I posted here. I graduated from the local tech college trucking school in 4/2007, got my CDL, and went to work with Roehl. I left after 5 months because my wife lost her job and my income was not enough, so I went back to a sales job that I hated, but that got us by each month.

Now my wife is teaching school and my sales job has dwindled to nothing in this economy, so I was thinking about getting back into trucking. I loved it while I did it, except for the part about being away from home.

Roehl wants a recent graduate or a minimum of 2 mos/ 20k miles in last few months. It's been 4 years. Are there any companies out there that will take me? The recruiter said my only other option was to go back to school, and that ain't happening when I already have a CDL. Thanks in advance.

Refresher course at all major companies and most likely at least 1 week proving you can drive with a trainer. Small companies might be willing depending on how bad they need drivers. Also if you can prove experience and show a decent driving on the road test you might luck up. Otherwise get ready to do this lil refresher and get back in the game. Also what type of freight would you be looking to haul??? With these clarifiers we can be better able to assist you....Good luck!!

I am mostly interested in van. I am thinking about taking the 140 hour course with Roehl and paying cash so that there is no contract to sign, then they will reimburse me for it over time. I just wanted to know what other options I might have.

Is this a joke or serious? Because with my current job situation, I'm not finding much to laugh about these days. :biggrin_25511:

and since he is going back to Roehl, they obviously are not cutting him any slack, as a former employee....he's gotta have re-training...
