Hi there - I hope to join the ranks as a lady trucker soon. I've watched my sister fail as one and it does seem a bit scary, but I have a lot of faith in me. I don't mind driving, where she really didn't like driving at all. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Still looking for a decent school. So many bad reports on some of these companies, but I've got to start somewhere. Hope you gals can help me. thanks:biggrin_25514:

Hey, I Am A Female Student At Allstate Career In Maryland And So Far I Have Heard A Lot Of Good Things About The School From Others, And My Personal Experience Is That Before You Leave The Program You Will Know The Basics Of Trucking. Can't Wait Until I Get With A Company To Get Some Real Over The Road Experience! My Thoughts Are To Go With Tmc Or Werner. Any Comments Or Suggestions?

I only wish I was ready to start now. I hate having to wait.

So far I am really liking Schneider. I am impressed with the idea that they helped all those drivers get their sleap apnea diagnosed and bought the masks for them.

:biggrin_25522:It won't be scary after you get some experiences driving like having a rig doing 60+ head-on at you in your lane and barely missing you by 3" because he woke up just in nick of time! Or driving in white out frozen fog on solid ice... I got vaulted out of sleeper berth when co-driver rear ended vehicle at 55 mph impact... the 4 wheeler died because he decided to take a nap while illegally parked in truck lane late night with no hazard warning devices! Truck school doesn't even scratch surface of teaching what you're going to find out can and does happen operating heavy haul OTR!
I was only female student in class of 40 and they weren't easy on me! Trucking is a male dominated occupation and at least by my experiences over the years I can say that I'm glad they were so hard on me because it's a hazardous occupation! I hope you find a decent truck driver training school, I know that Swift Transportation constantly trains new drivers, their motto "Safety is not by chance- it is a choice" and the S...sure-W...wish-...I...I'd- F...Finished-... T... Training properly describes this company! Or "S"low "W"agon "I"n "F"ront "O"f "T"railer" is because of their mandatory speed parameters of getting the boot for exceeding 65 mph even in states like Arizona! Some company dispatcher's aren't Driver Friendly so you'll have to just rough it like everyone. Try CR England... Good luck & BE SAFE!

That was pretty good. A 7 year necro and closing by recommending CR England.

    You 'don't mind driving'?

You had better LOVE driving for hours and hours, mile after hundreds of miles, day in and day out, week after week and month after month - before you ever consider getting into this business.
Because that is what we do.
