Its been a while since I decided to post for many reasons, but many new drivers need help so Ill offer what I can.

If you follow my threads (The few there are) You will know I had both sides of the 'good mentor/bad mentor' coin, and I was asked by several people for the name, and truck number of my mentor that taught me so well.

Well the time has come that very soon (days to a couple weeks) that I will be getting my own truck. And as promised, I am making a thread, so that when I do get off my ex mentor, now employers, truck, those new to swift will have a heads up and possibly be able to request him as a trainer. I already have permission from him to do this.

So, keep a eye on this thread if you want one of the best mentor swift has to offer, when I know his available date, I will post it here. Those that will be looking for a mentor at that time, please PM me and I will try to help you out.

Good luck out there, drive safe, and as 'stupid' as it sounds, dont forget to GOAL, it WILL save your trailer. :)

How long were you out training before swift lets you get your own truck? Did it take 6weeks? Or can it bee done in 4weeks? I'm going to orientation in about a week to the Syracuse NY terminal an would your mentor be training around there? Or do they train from there home terminal? Thanks.

Training for new drivers is 240 hours - that's driving time, not time on the truck. That can generally take from 6-8 weeks, but sometimes a bit longer depending on several factors.

And your mentor will probably be from a different terminal than you, but that doesn't matter all that much since you will probably be running all 48 states.

I am out of southern CA, but I very rarely get in that area unless I request home time.
