Ok so i started my employment out of the allentown PA terminal... From the start of it i dident think it was going to be all that great.

The orientation was a long 2 days the teacher was pretty boring and the hotel I think they purposely put it in the most boring area of Allentown. I had a really cool room mate and class mates during orientation even though i was clearly the youngest dude there. Everything seemed like it was going to be a royal pain. But i have to say once I got assigned to a trainer things changed drastically. 2 days after orientation I got assigned to my trainer, Hes a very nice older gentlemen who has really been looking out for my best internist while out on the road, he corrects me when I screw up without scolding me for it He lets me put in as many hours as i want, He said since he is making money off my driving he buys me meals every now and than, I'm training on a brand new 2011 international prostar. I'm seeing a lot of the country and having a great time while doing so, I have to say thus far I have had a great, As i said the orientation could have been a little better as the computers were slow and the real challenge was keeping myself awake during it, than after the fact that i had to wake up at 5:45 in the morning just to check in to show that i was still there was a real pain (apparently a lot of people leave during orientation/ waiting for a trainer.)

Over all i have been having a great time and I'm learning a lot. I still have 150 hours to log but im having fun. im gad i got a good trainer

Glad you got a good trainer and glad you thought enough to post your experience here. Sure beats reading all the constant negative posts all the time.

Congratulations to you and continued best wishes!:biggrin_25514:

If you stay on with werner, try to get the Family Dollar account.I don't know about now but few years back it was not that bad I heard.Pay is crap but I think IF its still the same it was like .32 cents per mile but you where only doing 1500 miles a week or less.Good thing about it you can get good home time.I knew someone few years back that was doing that and he was bringing home around $475 -$550 a week but he got home every 10 - 12 days, and then took 2 days off.If you do OTR,your looking at .26 per mile, and i'm sure its still at .26 cent a mile, that what it was few years ago.
