Did I deserve it? hell know but I am stuck with it. Had a load going to Target DC that said do not deliver early. Well 14 was coming close to being up and I would have been on my 10 when it was due to deliver.
Called dispatch a day before and said I can get it to the Phoenix yard but someone is going to have to take it from there. Pulled into the terminal with 10 minutes to spare. Was told by DM and CSR to take it on up there early.
Did what I was told to do and now I get a service failure for delivering the load early and there is not a #### thing I can do about it. The DM forgot to write the name down of the CSR who told us to do this and now there is no way we can prove someone told us to do it.
Of course I was mad and from now on everything will get handled over the qualcomm so I have proof.
Just a little heads up for anyone new. Even if you are told to do something you better have it documented..
Got my first service failure...

Never talk to your DM on the phone! Always use the computer. It's a satellite communications device, so use it too communicate! It's a simple following of the 11th commandment (the one that got dropped as Moses made his way down the mountain). Thou shalt always cover thine butt!

Service failure for delivering a load early what a load of BS!

Yup at Target you will. Says do not deliver early Swift will get fined. The thing about it is there was no one there but security and they seemed to be alright with getting it. A drop and hook no live Un load.
Rotten Thanks this. -
why didnt you just sit and wait until your apt time? Just park off to the side.....lol

Yeah, its BS most of the time its the contract the TC and the customer have set up..Of course with Target security would have tagged you.The wharehouse people prob dont even know such a set up exists.
I almost had it happen to me..DM sends me on a multi stop I get to the 1st P/U 2 hrs early and the DM knew it..Calls me once I am there and asks if I am aware of the rules for this customer..I say um no..and she proceeds to tell me that I can only be 15 mins early and cant take off for 45 min after loaded..Ok,but Im docked already..So Im like F this and go talked to the WH guys and they are like thats BS..dont sweat it stay docked and we wont clock you in till your appt and stay as long as you need. They had no idea of the contract set up by the companys and other drivers were like thats a BS situation my company has no such contract..lol The only people who seem to care in these special situations are the TC and the corporation who mandated such an assinine rule. -
I would have been on my 10 past the appointments time. This is why I called a day early to let them know I would not be able to be there at 8AM. They could have got a local driver from the terminal to take it. It was one of those loads where you have just enough time to get it there and if something happens along the way like traffic you are SOL.
I agreed to this load to do them a favor and pick up a student and take him to Houston but instead I get a service failure and still get the student to Houston on time.
I told them numerous times you have to get the trailer inspected before going to Target and this would also add to the 10 hour break.
Arrived in Phoenix at 11:50 the night before and load delivers at 8AM. My 14 was up at 12AM so no way I would have been able to deliver it on time. -
I did a target load once and yeah not a lot of time on those. It was LA to PHX. Wear it like a badge of honor.

Sorry you got the short end of the stick. There wasn't a window of time for the drop? I was 2 hours late to a Target dc once but sent a MAC 22 stating there was an over abundance of deer on US 50 in Colorado. CSR called to laugh and said no problem and be safe. No service failure. I also took a 10 onsite and my dropped trailer was sitting in the same place with the seal still on it.

If you trust me, give me your truck number and the order number, and I can look and verify, see if they put a note in the order for you to deliver it early. But yeah, in the future, if they tell you to do anything contrary to what is on your dispatch and you think it could result in a service failure, ask them to send it over the qualcomm.
