The way I study is, I dont try to remember every thing on the paper, its all systematic. Just find an order and remember what part you're looking for and you'll be good.

Most things are not missing, damaged, bent broken or leaking anyway

    Good luck.

The pretrip seems daunting at first, but you'll get it eventually. There is quite a bit of repetition in it so it looks a lot worse on paper than it is to actually do it.

Things like suspension, brakes and wheels will essentially be the same thing multiple times with slight variations on things like slack adjuster working limits, airbags, or whatever there may be with your particular tractor/trailer combo. Then there is a certain set of things you say when it comes to air lines and another set of things you say when they're electrical lines each time. If you think of them in sets like that it makes it much easier. If you can say the proper thing for air lines or electrical lines on one section, you can do it on the next.
