can you still do the extra 20k?

 

I know you can continue to team with someone. Not sure exactly what is up.

 

Good question! I'm of the opinion that more is better... and I'd agree - I wasn't ready at 30k either.

 

I just dont understand why they would think it is a good idea... That will take about a month off my training, but that doesnt help if I dont know what Im doin. Im going to do my best to learn everything I can.

 

I have a theory on why they are doing it. There has been a surplus of students lately, some weeks having as many as 20 left over waiting on instructors. A lot of instructors after getting their student a CDL also will do the 50k training part with the student. I get the feeling they are doing this to get the trainees off the trucks faster, so those instructors will pick up another student.

 

Could very well be... but what about all the students that will not be ready after 30k? There is a ton to remember and know....30k could be done in bout only 3 months... I got my trainer lined up already, so it will be interesting as to how this goes. Already been exposed to how to do everything, but it will take a lot of time to be able to do it myself with no help.

 

When I took my upgrade test on the sim we had a guy in the smith class that had NO lane control, heck he hit TWO fedex trucks and almost ran a cop off the road. Wally found out the guy had 6 accidents as a tnt student!!

 

I went right from CDL school in AZ to driving for another company. I did not want to go with a trainer period so I went with the other company. It was great solo after a paid 10 day orientation, then I still had to do 20k with Prime since I did not have enough time and miles at the previous company, when I came in it was 60k+ or 8 months plus, right when they started thinking about this new deal had the new deal been there I might not have had to go with a trainer at all and that would have been fine by me. I have mixed feelings on the training, in a way it is good in a way it is bad because from my experience and mine said it, they trained for the extra money. Nuff said on that. Have confidence in yourself don't rush GOAL (Get Out And Look) I still do this.

 

Thats typical and a good way to learn how we do it here at prime. they put you in that truck with a trainer to see ifn yer a safe driver. as fer the trainin, yer right some are just in it fer the money, IF I ever become a trainer I want my student to know Im there to help become a driver not a steerin wheel holder. Theres alot to this career that throws alot of this ppl off becuz its not just a job is a lifestyle change. run hard sleep little deal with dumb ppl & four wheelers.
