If YOU are the company......you deal with it.

If a broker is involved......they can help you deal with it.

Personally........I don't sign my bills till AFTER I'm loaded.

    Yup Thanks this.

If thats what you need to do, then thats what you need to do. I have done this so many times I've lost count. You stand at your doors & after the forklift has pulled out of your trailer you go in and count. I don't see what the problem is, unless they won't let you on the dock, then SLC. As for the weight, if there is a scale then scale, if your to heavy tell the shipper. If they wont fix it
    Call your company.
Your making this harder than it needs to be.

trucker, you CAN NOT do that...that's what i'm saying all the time, because the shipper GIVES YOU ONLY YOUR COPY with YOUR SIGNATURE ALREADY THERE ELECTRONICALLY. you CAN NEVER EVEN SEE the shipper's copy...it may easily be still only in his comp. that's the thing.
    you know what i mean...

this is how it exactly works...
    - arrive at the shipper
-fill the arrival/pu log sheet by pen
    -give the guy the pu#
-he askes you for your cdl and he scans it
-he askes you to sign on the electronic pad
-he tells you to go back in the truck and will let u know when done w lding
-when done, you are simply handed your copy of bol with your signature already attached at the bottom

now someone tell me again to put slc on the shipper's copy please.

    blktop-bucanear Thanks this.

slc on a bol that is crossing the border can get a bit of questioning--even when you say that you have never saw the trailer before an hour ago-it is bolt sealed and to be honest you really dont know what is in there
for some reason, cbp expects every driver to load their own load and personally inspect every packadge for illegals

Why can't you? ANd get off the fact you can't see the shippers copy, it makes no difference. Your copy is gonna be for the most part the same. The only difference may be all the crap on it that you might not understand. All the basic stuff like the count and weight will or should be the same.

If you're not capable of signing SLC then "your name" right after it, then do us all a favor and go work at McDonalds! I've signed those things many times and there is plenty of room to do it. Now if the shipper changes it and deletes the SLC, hand them the paper work back, call the company or tell them to unload the load...... Really it is just that simple.
