most states in the mid atlantic have some idle policy... however un-enforced it is.
how do they expect us to sleep? -
There is a list that i saw one time that listed all states and CITY ordinances..the cities that had anti-idle laws and the fines was quite surprising..
such as:
Chicago..i had no idea
Atlanta..$1500 1st offense
and so on..and so..
You may be surprised at how many have anti-idle ordinance and at the $$Huge fines$$$Yodler Thanks this. -
Wow I'm from Chicago and didn't know about that one. Of course I've got some pretty ingenious places that I can park at where it really would never be a issue. Thanks for the info and I will definitely be on the lookout. Drive safe and make loads of money!!!!

Yessir..you too.

When you all can, print this out, also bookmark it. Then you will know where you can and cannot. Look under the exemptions to see what you can do.ExpressDriver Thanks this. -
thanx..great website.
Looks like i was off(sorry)on Atlantas fines,but,$500 is still alot.
I was surprised by the MPLS,MN ordinance(s)...NO idling, 0 minutes(including reefers) between 10-6.and a $700Fine.
how do they deliver goods up there in reefer units? -
The way I understood it, they meant no idling of reefers in the residential areas
-
That's correct; no idling between 10 PM and 6 AM in a residential area.
And they're all asinine. -
Make sure you look at the exemptions.
Many states will allow you to idle while getting your DOT mandated rest breaks.
