As long as you are honest on your DOT physical, nothing else matters. Not all disabilities mean you can't drive and do the job. Your employment application should ask if you are a vet? disabled? No medical records change hands without an ERISA release form signed by you.

Two out of three employers want to hire a disabled vet, yet don't know how to go about it. Anyone would be glad to hire you. There are tax incentives for employers that hire disabled vets. There are discrimination incentives for those that don't. :)

I know most won't agree with me. I've never understood how someone can accept "disability" money from taxpayers, when they are perfectly ABLE to work.

    Linte_Loco Thanks this.

    snake021,

Being paid a MILITARY disability does NOT mean you are unable to work !!!!!!

You're thinking of social security disability perhaps ?

Chances are, other things that you misunderstand, make no sense also.

    Thank you, oh great Sensei!:biggrin_25514:

I know the difference, that's why "disability" was in quotes. I still don't believe it's right.

Yea, your probably right. most level headed poeple wont agree with you. If you lost 3 fingers in the military, i kind of think you are disabled. i also think you would be capable to work in some capacity, so getting hurt while in the military and getting compensated for your injuries as i am as well as others is not taking money from tax payers.

I get about $200 per month for VA disability. 20 years in the Army, finger cut off, broken hip, crushed wrist, torn rotator cuff, torn ACL, hearing loss and shrapnel wounds. I have no problem taking my disability, however, I am not like those I know that are actively trying to get more.

FYI, the military examines everyone who retires or gets out of the military and automatically makes a determination wether they get money or not.

oh also forgot to mention, that since my rating is below 50%, while it is technically called disability, this money is taken out of my pension then given back to me by VA tax free, so over all I am making maybe $50 on the deal.

this is not associated with social security disability either, which I do not receive.
