It is MP4. They changed cabin design to use the same engines all over the world. They will use 15L and 13L six in line engines on all class 8 trucks of conventional and COE design. Before MP4 they used V designed engines on European market and these engines do not fit US trucks, and it was impossible to install engines used on US trucks under Actros Cab, so the only Heay Mercedes truck that shared engine with Freightliner is Axor, but no flat floor.
-
but this is ugly and too advanced design for now
i think 1973 NG still looks better than this
as much i heard mp3 will be still in sales until 2013 and mp4 will be 6000 more
and look at this handles below windshield this is big shame they not hide them -
yeah, they will sell MP3 till they got no OM502 and OM501 engines on warehouses.
Later they will discontinue ALL PLD engines, including OM 924/926 OM457/460
So later we will see all class 8 trucks by Dimler with 13 and 15 L CRD engines.
US drivers know what is the Detroit DD15 engine, DD13 (in EU OM471) is the same engine with reduced displacement. all engines are CRD with SCR.
Mercedes say engine will be ready EPA2012 and Euro6 -
i can only hope that other manufacturers will not make same ugly thing
scania will release their new series in late 2012 -
MAN and International will do it soon too
-
-
ouh yeah! OM471, DOHC, Common rail..... new age is coming

As I can see the different cabin substructure design, I can see it by brake value sensor combined with redundance valve, it is like on FH so the floor may be not flat like in MP2-3 -
