Is there any use for me to continue with trucking?

All this supports, but not necessarily proves, what I always say and believe. In life, very few things are written in stone.

I believe this because I have made mistakes and gone on to achieve licenses, cetifications and successes. I have often managed to be paid more than normal or start for more than normal. I'm not special; I've lived through times when I couldn't get a break no matter how hard I tried. You just change the approach, plan or sometimes the goal. You don't always make it, but the wisdom and experience you gain prepares you for the next battle. I've failed, at what I wanted so bad, to realize a couple of years later it positioned me for something better I could have never foreseen.

Many people won't try because the rules and laws are stacked against them. I admire people who will go against all odds to do or be something that they have dreamed and planned. As God's creatures, what makes us great is the self-awareness to see our mistakes and change our lives. In most cases, the only limitations we face are in our minds. Dare to challenge yourself and support others who do.

Thanks Dieselbear. I suppose any of us could have done the research. It's nice to have the facts from a professional with knowledge in the industry. This way we aren't all quoting our version of what we think the regulations said.

We appreciate your participation in this forum. You are a valuable resource.

bigjohn, i look at life like a boxing match. if you don`t get up when you get knocked down you lose, if you can`t duck the big punch you`re goin down, if you don`t try you`re gonna lose and if you`re scared you might as well get out of the ring cause you have no chance.. everyone screws up at one point or another, some worse than others. i had a saying in my paint shop, " it`s not the $%#* up it`s the recovery." to the op, don`t sweat it, it is what it is. don`t be scared and don`t forget to duck..

I'm going to give this thread a bump. I've been in contact with Dave by PM and know he is still pursing his goals. I expect he will update us when he has some time. I wanted others that are following his pursuits to know he is hanging in there.

EDIT: Upon rereading Dieselbear's Post: It seems to me if the state you're applying in refused a CDL, you could seek one in another state whose laws followed the federal guidance.

I am completely blown away by the encouragement and concern from ya'll towards my situation. Thanks a bunch! Even the toughest critics' opinions has strong value with me. Thank ya'll too...
Tomorrow, after 8 weeks of sleeping in a tent in over a hundred degree weather (cry baby right?) I graduate with over 1100 interstate miles at the wheel and an education/experience of a lifetime from a veteran trucking professional!!!
Today, I got enough money to pay for the CDL, HAZMAT background check and 4 endorsements. So...sometime next week, God willing etc...I will have my CDL's.
I also had very positive words from a sweet HR lady with a good company in Alabama near the Florida line.
After all the research I've done and the post you fine folks have provided on this thread, (since none of my "problems" happened here in Florida), I just may be good to go. HR lady thinks so too.
I have worked very hard to reach this point and can only hope once I get the CDL's, I can serve this industry as well as you've helped encourage me.
    Thanks!!!
