I don't think I have turned mine on in over a month. I run mainly in the NYC metro area and I just don't want to listen to the garbage. Between the southern drivers complaining about the traffic and the NYC drivers complaining about the southern drivers it's just to much.
Now if there is an unusual back up i will turn it on. Even then I only leave it on for a few minutes.

Yeah the I80 bridge in Joliet is nasty one. Went through there twice recently once took an hour to get about 10 miles but my shipper was off the next exit after the bridge. Went through there around 10am on a Sunday morning about a week ago and it was not so bad, kept moving at 45 the whole way. You would probably be better off eating the toll taking 355 to 55S back to 80 most times though.

Today, I saw a Celadon truck with the trailer air lines dragging on the ground. Drivers trying to get their attention on the radio were plentiful, but, as is to be expected, the Celadon driver wasn't listening. While it's probably just as much the result of a poor pre-trip, not being able to hear when other drivers were pointing this out didn't help them any.
Yep. It's freedom of choice. But again, no complaining when your choice puts you in a situation like that.American-Trucker and johnday Thank this. -
*hey turn the volume up...can't hear the durn thing over the engine noise!* -
I keep my cb on. It has saved me hours of time sitting in traffic and has allowed other drivers to let me know when something went awry with my trailer. I have also used it to let other drivers know about problems with their rig.

It's saved my bacon a couple of times too.
