Some companies do provide locks for their trucks. But then again if somebody breaks into the cab and steals your stuff you think the company cares or will reimburse you? Afraid not.
-
look at it this way, someone may say something about you unloading 100 shoe boxes out of a trailer in the truckstop at 2 a.m. but if you steal the truck at 2 a.m. the only thing they will say is "hay i found a place to park".
i can have the doors on a trailer open in less than 2 min and i don't care what lock you put on it, realy it's not hard -
Awesome! Can you come open mine for me? I hate getting out of the cab.
-
I don't think you'd like the effects of his method...

As per driver handbook page 63 section 4: while on home time, both the tractor and trailer must be parked in a secure location. ( defined as USX service center or authorized drop yard, approved customer facility, approved fenced and/or patrolled area with 24hr, 7-day security service or a specific location, approved by the drivers assigned FM.)
It also goes on to say in section 9: drivers should not leave tractors running when parked and should make certain that 'the tractor, trailer, and cargo are secured.'
Sucks that ur rig got stolen and u lost ur job but looks pretty cut and dry. Usually I leave my tractor in the service term to get pm's n repairs done while I'm home instead of while Im on the road. I live a ways away but just have the wife pick me up and make a day of it.
Sorry bout the truck again man, that sucks. There's nothing I hate more in this world than a thief... -
THAT explains who's at fault.
No ifs, ands, or buts !!!!!
The good news is,
there are still companies that will hire you.
Good Luck !! -
If there is a company willing to hire someone who got a HV load stolen from them because they decided to park it in a non secure area and then blames the company for them getting canned over it. They deserve what they will get. Someone who is devoid of the concept of personal responsibility for the frt and equipment a company entrusts them with.
My guess is it would be a company who pays 28 cents a mile and fixes their trucks with baling wire and duct tape and strands you constantly because they have no money in their account to buy fuel. -
I am sure this driver would have been glad to park it in a secure lot if the company wasn't too cheap to pay for it. If they don't want to pay to park their truck and secure their companies freight, why do they think the driver would want to? It's always the driver's fault, even when it isn't. Spin it how you want. The only reason he didn't park in a secure yard is because his company was too cheap to pay for it.Gearjammin' Penguin and Lonesome Thank this.
