one can be "book smart perfect"

    yet

    practical experienced dumb.....

perfectionism doesn't get you no where when you mess up and the powers that be chide you for it, since you were so "perfect"..

all the "papers with high grades" in the world cannot save your arse if you cannot actually do the job....

Books smarts wont help you when that car pulls out in front of you, or you hit black ice for the first time.
Learn the regs, but focus more on driving.
If you are crushed by less than perfect, truck driving may not be the best choice of careers for you.
    Good Luck out there.

You are correct, absolutely correct "IF" I couldn't actually do the job. But, I did do the job, and did it well, for 7 years so I see no reason that should be a problem.

I'm not "crushed by less than perfect" it is simply my goal. Why would I shoot for mediocre?

I get your point but believe you guys have missed mine....I have been out there; I've had the white knuckles on black ice, I've adjusted my brakes at the top of long grades, and I left the road with a perfect record - no tickets, no log violations, no weight tickets, no damaged loads, no late loads and no driver-damaged equipment.

I will make a top notch driver for someone when I come back out just as I did when I was out there before.

My goal is not to be better than anyone else; it is to be the best that I can be. Do you see something wrong with that?

Both my my parents have college degrees. My dad is a PH.D and my mom has a bachelors.

My dad can't hook up a DVD player.
My mom was once "stuck" in the driveway because she had her foot on the brake instead of the gas.

"Book smarts" ain't what they're cracked up to be.

I used to be a perfectionist. not very good at it lol. I came to the realization that I was only Human. Humans are falable, therefore not being PERFECT actually makes me a perfect humanbeing.

It is one thing to take pride in what we do, do our best and strive for perfection. life is a journey not a destination.

when perfectionism sets us up for dissapointment anger or depression it is time to revaluate that need. JMHO

So many times I have heard people commit suicide or give up on something because they were not perfect. allow your selfe to be a perfect humanbeing.
