You are human, not a dog. All it takes is 70 degrees outside to push the interior temperature above 100 degrees. Sure fuel is high, but your comfort and health is higher. I wonder how else they try to save a dollar at your expense? Anybody changing jobs should ask... Do you have an APU or am I allowed to idle in extreme temperatures? They answer no...okay sorry, I'm not interested.
How to cope with no APU

"for driver comfort", IDLE THAT ENGINE to either stay cool and get your PROPER REST/SLEEP during any temperature YOU FEEL is TOO HOT FOR YOU, then in winter IDLE THAT ENGINE to stay warm...
i say BS to any of these companies that think ANYONE should try and rest/sleep without proper heating/cooling devices....and if they are THAT ANAL about idling..and write you up..and give you grief..??
go look the A-holes in the face and tell them "YOU SLEEP IN A HOT BOX, I AM A HUMAN BEING"....
maybe it's time you found another company...???james3505, jcroom76, Rollover the Original and 2 others Thank this. -
Ask them which costs the company more: A few gallons of fuel or your truck in a ditch?
Rollover the Original, THBatMan8 and Laner99 Thank this. -

Getting around trucks that will not idle is as easy as a stick cut to a length so when jammed between the seat cushion and the pedal it raises RPM and keeps truck running.
The law is another question and up to you to obey or not.
Years ago this was our cruise control.
No driver should be forced to sleep without heat or air conditioning.
A company asking this be done would never be my choice, but many new drivers have to take whatever job they can get.
