Don't worry everyone, I have a new tech problem for you to speculate on. Ever since I got in this truck in Jan, I had problems right out of the terminal. It was requesting parked regeneration, wouldn't do it, so they tore it apart and manually cleaned it out. Had to do a handful of parked regens in following month, and now it appears to be doing passive regens as designed. However, once a week up to every other day (such as this week), the motor appears to be going into a derated state, where I can't build more than 20-25 PSI boost pressure, of course resulting in an annoying loss of power. This lasts between a day and half a day, longer when I first got in it. It's been looked at few times, and nobody can seem to find a problem (no apparent faults). Today I started thinking that maybe the variable geometry of the turbo is sticking on the "quick spool" side, and I did a quick Google on it. Apparently this is a common problem on VW's and diesel pickups, though I didn't find anything pertaining to the ISX. It's an '09 Pete with an ISX 485 (manufactured in late 07?!) Thoughts?

YIPPEEE!!! A new problem to speculate on!!

It seems like every time there's a problem with one of these trucks, it's always that danged DPF filter. It's probably clogged up.

Know what's annoying though? There ain't no boost gauge in the Kenworths.

@brian, no i was too the two guys who mainly go to norton, both are from virginia, one guy drives a Volvo the other drives a KW, trust me if you seen them you know who i was talking about but i swear them two go nowhere but Norton..

@Minivans... yeah got a point but many places are going to be like that in the near future with most of these smaller companies have to go e-log, still besides the bull i can go 3 months without calling Angie and as soon as i say Hello how you doing she'll know my voice, still a small-company type vibe.. as far as rates.. see what i was told alot of those outfits in the sioux falls area are low-cutting ########, which are the same ######## that pull out of majority of these tyson warehouses/slaughter houses, Johnson Feed Inc, A&A, and K&J are popular culprits as this gentlemen told me... hell prime is also one of tyson biggest haulers and greatwide so that speaks for itself... but i think the rates are fair. i average around .42 cents All miles last year...

hometime, i always knew guys out in the midwest got the shaft because of monday deliveries and crappy loads going back west, i dont know where you live but short of living in Waynesboro its a crap shoot when your going to be home..

They SWEAR they don't have caller ID, and I've been standing by Dale's desk before when a call came in and you know that screen they have for each driver? They type in your secret code (the one that starts with 10 for Iowa drivers and 11 for VA drivers I think) and that screen pops up? Shows your name, address, cell and home numbers, your truck's last known location and the load you're assigned to? One time I was talking to Dale, and he had mine pulled up and we were talking about loads. He only had 3 windows open on his computer. He had PC miler open, that driver screen, and that chat window. Suddenly he hits a button on his phone and says "Hello" and the driver screen popped up and it wasn't mine, it was some other guy's and Dale's hands weren't even touching the keyboard or the mouse.
Sometimes it doesn't work right, though. If you call the number and dial Angie's extension, but she's on the phone, and somebody downstairs sees the flashing light for too long, they'll answer it and have no idea who you are. I'll say "Oh I was holding for Dale" and she'll put me back on hold and when Dale picks up, he has no idea who I am and has to ask.
Tim & Jeanne have the driver dispatch software too, and usually have it open. But one time I was trying to call Tim and Jeanne answered. I knew she wouldn't be able to answer the question I had for Tim, so I said "Do you hire ex-cons? My name is Bubba and I just got out of prison for stealing a truck full of electronics, and I need a job, are you guys hiring?" She started laughing, I assumed she would recognize my voice because I had just been in the office the day before. But no. She was laughing and said "who is this?" and I kept saying "My name is Bubba". She said "Come on, I don't have my screen open, who is this?" (It was 7AM and she hadn't booted her computer up all the way yet) I kept going on with the Bubba thing, asking what they haul, if they ever haul electronics or anything expensive, and after about a minute her screen came up & she said my name, and "I should have known it was you, who else would do that?"

I'm kind of interested in husker's feedback on this one. I think I know who he is, based on the fact it says "Lincoln, NE" and somebody here referred to him as "Rob". Personally I'm trying to keep my own identity obscure, in case Mike or someone finds this forum by typing the company's name into Google like I did. That's why my Avatar doesn't have a truck number on it and I change my "location" every day. If husker is the guy I'm thinking of, he might remember me as the guy who borrowed his broken pair of jumper cables about a month ago at Sheldon to help a driver get his pickup started, since we couldn't figure out how to use that thing in the back of the shop truck.

    Minivans,
Intersting info on the "secret code" doesn't surprise me in this age of no privacy, but you do what you gotta do I guess, no fault of VW's, I know there are doing what makes a good business model. BTW, there are some from what I'm told, who do go to this website, so you may want to be on your p's and q's, unless of course it's fact, fyi. Furthermore, social networking is great, if used accordingly, some people have no clue?

    Hawk,
I know those cats, two peas in a pod, but hey, if you got it like that, rock on.

It's usually pretty low. I don't know what's been going on lately, heard some rumors it's starting to increase. They had lots of drivers who have been with the company for 20-30 years, who have recently decided to retire because of the e-logs.
