Every place I've picked up from in Canada had a fax I could use. The only times I had to pay for a fax was for the ACE Manifest. Also the last load I picked up in Ontario went down to GA. That was 1144 miles. Almost all my loads out of Canada have been good miles.

As far as Quebec goes. I share your fears. Having none of the road signs in English frankly scared me. Luckily I had spent the day prior driving through Ontario where it was bilingual so I at least knew north, south, east, west. My directions were 100% accurate and perfect.

I've found the CelCanada drivers to be nicer than the US ones. Either that or I give off a nice vibe people pick up on. Could be both.

I've only been inspected once in Champlain where I had to go through VACIS. Thousand Islands is a beautiful place to cross. I found that out recently. :)

Luckily for me I haven't had many issues crossing the border. I expected some because the picture on my CDL was from 2 years ago and I looked rather different then compared to now and the picture on my passport card. Only one person has asked about it though.

Oh, and the people in Quebec who I've talked with spoke English but preferred French. When they address me in French I just simply and humbly apologize that I don't speak French and they switch to English. They do understand English, some just refuse to speak it.

A lot of talk about 10 jobs in 15 years being some kind of problem in this industry ...
A load of BS since I've seen drivers who've had 10 or more jobs in 2 years getting hired - no problem.

As long as someone is willing to put up with BS, good DMR, CSA, etc ... you'll have a job.

Plenty of threads on here about challenging the DAC, I would do a search and get busy.

amen to that. I was supposed to be headed home for time off, which I might add has been in the system for 2 weeks and the powers that be have decided to send me to Canada instead. I finally got them to change where I am taking the load, but that still means I will not be home when I need to be. I have already had to reschedule items I really needed to get done. Think long and hard before acceting any offer to work for Celadon. Pay is probably the worst in the industry. I will be going back to my former employer in October. I would be there now, but due to medical issues, I cannot go back untill October. At least they will look you in the eye when they do you wrong( did not want to use the other word). I will not say who the other company is, because most people on this forum think they are not any good either, but I never had any problems with them. Celadon will also tell you to take a lolad someplace and only give you directions, but will not give you an address. go figure.

I try to steer clear of celadon. It seems that every time some other trucker is trying to run me off the road its a Celedan Truck. Its like they know its me.

I guess the reason RC keeps saying the same thing repetitively over and over again is because he's spent so much time asking the phrase "Are you hiring?"

upon reading sequioa mention about getting directions and no address. Guess what partner, it has happened to me three times and I have had to call customer and ask what address is to make a delivery. So my information is not incorrect. I am not saying it happens all the time, but is does hapen. It may not have ever happened to you, but it has to me. Oh and I got my butt chewed on for having to call the customer. Just letting you know.

Just recently I had a delivery that went to Miami - 4 stops after the initial pick up. Two of the stops had different business names than what were printed on the bills. The addresses were correct, but there were no addresses posted on the buildings. It took me that whole day to make deliveries, all within just a few miles from each other.#

I was scheduled to get home 2 days prior to making these deliveries which was upsetting enough, then trying to find addresses and business names, all which were of conflict to what was on the bills. I tried asking directions from some of the other local warehouses in the area, but no one spoke any English, and if they did it was broken English at best. After delivery I was sent a my pre-scheduled ETA/PTA did not reflect my home time. I ended up putting in my PTA for a week later and told them, "I'm going home". 200 miles away from home, two days past when I was supposed to be home, and they probably wanted me to stick around and wait for a load going out of Miami North to get me closer to home even though they had me go 200 miles past my home in the first place.

I was going to say the same thing until recently. On Wednesday I was dispatched to pick up a load. The QualCOMM stated that the shipper was SS Foods in Lake City Florida. The address read, I10 exit 303, no street address or any additional information. I pulled into the truck stop off this exit and asked for additional information such as street address. It was at that time they informed me that this was a relay and that the truck driver was sitting waiting for me at the stop where I was.#

Another load was to pick up in Grand Ave in Jacksonville, FL. When I entered this address into my GPS the only thing that kept coming up was residential areas. After playing around with the address some, it turned out that the address was actually Grande Rio Ave.#

Another load I had to pick up in Virginia. When I got there the shipper told me that the load was already picked up two days ago. When I informed dispatch they didn't believe me and insisted on talking with the shipper. After some discussion over the phone (and the shipper was telling the truth), dispatch took me off that load and I ended up waiting until the next day for another load.#

So here I am in Texas. The QualCOMM states that my drop is at the Laredo terminal. I go to the dispatch office after checking the trailer in and they tell me that it delivers 4 driveways down on the same street. After looking at the bills I see two addresses and ask dispatch which one gets the delivery. I go where they tell me but end up waiting over an hour to get into the shipper who tells me that I am at the wrong warehouse. So now I am waiting at the other warehouse. Dispatch gets it wrong a lot, so don't try to say this isn't true. I have actually taken pictures of the messages on the QualCOMM just is case the office personnel chooses to do what they do best... twist things around.
