I have explained on another thread that my husband got in an accident and was terminated from Gordon. It has been advised by some that he look for small and/or local companies to regain employment and "re-build" his record. Do the local companies check DAC like the bigger companies do (I don't know if it's because regional or OTR is any different than local in this)? He was not cited for the accident and it's not on his MVR...

    Thanks in advance!

While I have no first hand knowledge, all my research says many to most local or small fleets do not check or care about the existance of DAC. This system seems to be, by the Mega-Companies for the the Mega-Companies.

If the accident does not show on his MVR, this may be an option. Be aware that many insurance companies track, record and share accident data among themselves. I can't remember if the company that your husband worked for was self-insured. I doubt they share data if they are.

In today's world of technology, there are many ways to be tripped up, if you aren't extremely careful.

Thanks BigJohn54--the company, GTI, is indeed self-insured. Even more scary than vehicle insurance, they do the same regarding employee health care!!

    Thanks again!!

it all depends on whether or not a company subscribes to DAC..

no company can just call DAC and get a report. they have to have an ID number and from there they can get access.

so one never really knows what small company subscribes to DAC or not, and to ask that company if they do subscribe..??

kinda like saying, "hey, i did something wrong"......

    tbrown_sd and BigJohn54 Thank this.

We use the new Pre-employment Screening Program. Cost is $25.00 /yr. and $10.00 per use. Gives DOT accident info and Inspection history showing the carrier and their DOT number.

A driver can get his/her own report from the DOT too!

Not putting a downer on you but when they ask for previous employers he will list Gordon they will call them.............

DAC or no DAC he is probably better off being straight upfront about it.

most of the smaller mom and pop companies wont waste the money required to obtain a DAC report. remember, you are entitled to one free DAC report each year. just fill out the request form and it will show up in about 10 days.

He did that today while on the phone disputing what one company stated his former company put on his DAC. I'm sorry, but my husband is an honest man and admits his fault. This company is now trying to pin something on him that he didn't do! He called the company and then HireRight. I'm very sorry that I didn't believe a lot of drivers who said that there was something on their DAC that they didn't do. I think it's wrong as all get out that a company can file false information - it sounds like drivers have little luck in changing it!

He only found out because a company was going to hire him with the accident. Now he has to try to get this resolved.

    Thanks for your help.

i don't know about where you live but in my state anytime anyone requests my driving record i automatically receive a copy in the mail. i don't know if that's just my state or if that's the same as a "dot report" but i just got a new one in the mail when i got added to my current jobs insurance.

i imagine a few phone calls and you could get a copy.
