Nice to meet you BigRo. I just finished orientation on the 30th and what I learned: $250.00 for orientation that gets put on your Comdata card as soon as your 3 day orientation ends. $ 300.00 a week paid every other Friday ($600.00) for training. We were told in orientation that training was 8 weeks for new drivers with you doing all of the driving. Now I have heard both on this forum and in the drivers lounge in Greeley that it is 1. 15,000 mi 2. 6 weeks with the last 2 weeks driving as a team. There are 9 of us that just finished orientation last week that are still waiting for trainers. Hopefully I can get with a trainer soon and will pass along what I am told then.

Well I show up at Walmart this morning and now my load doesn't show up in THIER system!...............................GRRRRRR!
So they say we need to call and reschedule the load, only problem is it's the fourth of July and there is nothing that can be done today so by the time they can talk to somebody tomorrow the earliest appt time they could get would be Wed morning!
Good thing I live 30 mins from here and I can go home and babysit the Taters instead of being stuck in a truckstop for 2 days!.............lol
Headed to the house now, for those of you stuck out on the road I will drink a few cold ones in your honor today!..............................DocHoliday Thanks this. -
Here are a few links that may be what you were referring to, Pan:
1.) http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/truckroute2010.pdf
A map of truck routes through NYC.
2.) http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/trucks.shtml
Very informative site published by NYC DOT with lots of truck/commercial vehicle specific info. You can find links to parking a CMV in NYC; off hour deliveries; NYC truck routes for local and/or through maps; weight and size limits; Parkway restrictions; and lists by Burrough of the "several hundred low vertical clearance structures in New York City, including elevated rail lines, tunnels, bridges, highway ramps, buildings over highways and other obstructions."
3.) https://www.nysdot.gov/portal/page/portal/divisions/operating/osss/repository/parkway%20truck%20brochure.pdf
A brief two page pamphlet from the state.
Of the three links I think #2 is probably the most useful. Geeze, after looking through this stuff, Los Angeles seems like a cake walk!! At least I don't recall having to worry too much about low clearance there, as much as that appears to be a real concern in NYC. And I actually came to enjoy the Freeway backups in LA... more time to double ck the route and look for the right exits!
Robz 1017, good luck with going there for your first trip with JBS. But with all your experience it shouldn't be any problem for you.Last edited: Jul 4, 2011

Hi Jeff,
Glad to hear you got through orientation ok, hope you get with a trainer soon. I'm still waiting for a call for my orientation date, Sharon told me Rick is on vacation so it might still be a bit before I get a date. I think I'm gonna run up to Redding this week and spend a day on the truck with Sarge......man I miss that guy....lol.
Take care, Butch
