Surprised the company doesn't pay for the sleep study. They are the ones that are requiring it anyways.

When I was in class, the Schneider rep came through, and I was impressed that they do help with the sleep study, and also help driver to get a machine. That was about all I was impressed with though.

One of my trainers had a CPAP in the truck so I know it isn't a problem

Overbyja- Have you went in for the test yet, I live in the Green Bay area and found a company in Milwaukee that will do it for 900 cash about 1500 if you end up needing the machine, pretty easy to get to and all can be done in one - two days, I know the places in GB cost about 3500, google sleep disorder center of WI. 900 is alot easier to take than the full cost and its only what 120 mile away

I might need that info. I took my physical today. Roehl wants me to get the sleep test. They told the dr to give me a 6 month card. Thats what the doc said anyway.

I need to get it done quick while I still have health insurance. Once I start with Roehl I'll be without it till I qualify.

Anybody need to get their blood pressure down before the exam go bowling. At last years exam I was right at 140. Over the winter it went up so I went to my doctor. He told me to lose weight so I started trying and sure enough pretty soon I was in the 120's. Laying off salt was the biggie. But I went off the wagon a month back and a few days ago saw my bp was back up to 145. I really didn't want the requirement on my card so I had NO salt and little food for a few days. My father in law trucker told me he gets his bp down by bowling. He gets a good workout and later when resting he finds his bp is down. So I tried it. Just before the exam I bowled three games. First time I bowled in 10 years. bp was 138. For those that don't know anything above 140 they require you take medicine to lower it and it's put on the card. I'd rather deal with my bp myself.

Oh and for anybody wanting to know I bowled a 90, 160, 151. Bowling by yourself can gas you. I worked up a good sweat and I did feel more relaxed during the exam. I hate those things. Ignorance is bliss according to my opinion.

I would get it before you get to Roehl, if they find out you have it after you started you will then require 2-3 months off to get acustom to the machine and its not covered by disability ins- good luck on this subject, Karen is the one you have to talk to and you will end up going round and round with her.

That 's a shame that's all you came away with. I assume you chose Roehl. Which is after all your right. But after having worked for Roehl and now Schneider along with my husband, Schneider is a better company hands down.

our program is changing, if you get a 6 month card, we bring you in and require the study 3 months later once you are on our insurance... depends on your bmi and neck size to qualify for this. Others that are too large must do it before hire

Yes that is what I was told by Roehl today. But Michael ( and thank you Michael) is right. They will shut you down so you can get used to sleeping with the machine.

For me it's better to do it before I go to Marshfield. I have insurance right now and if I do have sleep apnea Roehl said I can get used to using it while I'm being trained.

They also told me having this or high blood pressure does not mean they will not hire you. Not doing what needs to be done to control it is why they won't hire someone.

I just hope I don't have it. I never heard of anyone who was tested not having it so I better get used to the idea. Maybe it'll be good for me.
