swifthater,
Give it a shot and see what happens. Might be different at the terminal in your area. Get some more experience and then move on.

double r might be right things may be better at your local terminal.
I normally don't like to bash companies on here but like i said 8 years ago when i was still running local i use to talk to alot of the guys that work there and said it was a great place to work.
One of the threads on here he talk about some guy (I can't remember his name) that came from one of the mega carriers and is running it into the ground.
It's a shame that one guy can take a good company and ruin it.swifthater Thanks this. -
I have spoken with several former Kennedy drivers. They are quitting in droves.
Several of the senior Kennedy drivers have switched to Easterns flat bed division.
I have no first hand knowledge of the company but from what these fellas have told me I would collect unemployment before working for LJ Kennedy.
I am not saying Eastern is a fantastic carrier either but I have been here over 10 years and they are growing with flatbeds, vans, and reefers.
Cant hurt to make a call and find out if you have other options before stepping into a company thats going down hill fast.swifthater and already gone Thank this. -
yeah but how tough is eastern because i do have some issues with my dac its mainly bullcrap which is the honest truth but its harming me with alot of companies that id rather be with please let me know man thanks

Cant say for sure. We have a new manager in charge and many new office workers. You can do some research here on the company as well as call directly.
There is a thread in the good section as well as bad section on eastern.
Company name is Eastern Freightways based out of North Brunswick NJ. They are the truckload division of NEMF.
Similar pay and benefits to our union counter part with weekend home time (usually).

To be perfectly honest I wouldn't work for a company with a score that bad. But again you have to keep the door open to the industry.
Something else worth mentioning, I check FMCSA Scores on companies almost daily. Schneider's score isn't too bad and many smaller outfits have good scores. Other than that I haven't seen too many good scores. Even though they knew it was coming, with going back two years, most companies have at least one black eye.swifthater Thanks this. -
DON'T go to LJ kennedy. look up my other posts on my year there. they won't make you run illegal, but if you don't, don't expect to get any miles, ever. they will probably just starve you out.
Mitch Bookbinder used to work at LJ Kennedy, I talked to him a few times because we both knew another driver out of the Buffalo NY area. Mitch is an honest good guy that takes care of drivers. Thats also why he is no longer at LJK. AFAIK, he is the guy who runs the Eastern Flatbed division.
I would definetly check out eastern if i was you, at least compared to kennedy. go to their website, their pay blows kennedy out of the water. you would be lucky to make 35k a year if you run legally, and then you will be bouncing around in junk equipment around NJ and NYC.swifthater Thanks this. -
wow i dont know what to do if i do go its only for like 6 months until somebody else gives me a shot because im very nervous about that company
-
don't do it, trust me, if lj kennedy will take you, there are other BETTER companies that will take you as well.....
swifthater Thanks this. -
already gone do you know the nmaes of some of those companies im gonna deff call that eastern freightways company that the other guy referred me to
