Hey all I work for sin at the moment but conway contacted me for a truck driver job. The details were line haul and city doubles and triples with cross docking. They said forklift experience. Is this job a day cab home at night kinda deal? Should I stay in the pumpkin patch?

Well not sure where that is, wouldn't be to bad but I hear that LTL start you out doci labor and then when a seat comes open they move you in to it, if you don't mind the dock work then go for it, the pumpkin isn't to bad, you could switch over here to Conway Truckload and run all 48 If you hav e more tyen a years experience then you will start at. 36 a mile. If you need anymore info. Go ahead and shoot me a P.M.

I'm in a zone position. I run line haul at night. I've been here 6 months now and I like it. I make decent money about $4500. gross and I put in 60 hrs to get it. Weekends and holidays off...not bad at all. I don't mind the dock work, it can be good exercise to help keep you healthy. You are paid overtime for anything over 8 hrs in a day. So if you work 12hrs one day and 6hrs the next they will pay overtime on the 4 hrs you worked for the previous day. Health insurance isn't very good for the first year. Then you get more options. It can be expensive depending on what deductable you go with. Could be as much as $90-$100 a week if you want good coverage with low deductable for your family.

I have a buddy that started on the dock. He had some slow weeks during January through April then things exploded. He's climbed the sonority and in 5 months he's going to the day shift extra board. He said he's been running a night run about every night now and brings in about the same as I'm making or more. He said he's putting in 14 hr days...or nights in this case.

The starting where I'm at is $18.60 an hr and 42 cents a mile. You get paid a little more depending if you haul doubles or triples or rocky mountain set.

You get paid a little for fueling, hooking and unhooking a set as well.

You'll work your but off, but if you do your job, don't complain and seek out more work you'll be liked by the supervisors and they'll send you more work if they know they can count on you.

    JohnOConghaile Thanks this.

Starting is 18.60 here as well and .42cpm. I got hired as a DSR. I have been out with a city driver, going out with a line-haul next week. Been working the dock every day in between. Not too bad, sometimes seems hard to believe I will be as fast and proficient as everyone else. Had a good day today though, so I think I am improving. It's fast paced and fun for the most part. Anyways, thanks for the info leading into this. Looks like a company I could stay with for a long time.
