Not all old school truckers do not like newer trucks. Ex-company driver, who started his cariere in SovTrans-Auto and he is the real veteran of orient trucking to Iran before the revolution, he purchased VNL-670 and drives for pleasure.

He has small company with 5 trucks (Volvos, DAF) and he can be in office only, but he keeps driving. His choise - VNL.....

Old like a four wall bricks trucks are really stylish! I love them! I love old European and US trucks, I used to drive really classical European truck - Volvo F10..... But IMO - no reason to keep making old style cabins.

only big advantage of classic trucks i can see is they are far easier for servicing and faster

there is no complicating things on them and everything is easy to open and get to problem

It is a greate advantage, especially during wintertime!

it is not all. Less damage in front collisions, more front collision safety.

no i dont think on convetionals vs COE but generally new design trucks vs classic trucks

on our NG everything is repaired by hammer everything is made far stronger than it need to be and that truck was never maintained except oil and filters...and now as 24year old it works 24/7 loading 50ton gross on very hot weather in mountains on heavy work

and it will there for next 2.5 years

also for easier describing of that job

this is heavy excavation fuel consumption go very high truck only works in hills and transported material from the excavation hole

    it get 200L/100km ( 1.2mpg)

Just compare.. it is a pure conv. truck vs COE test, becouse US and EU cabins shares substructure components. Yeah, over cab moves back to get less damage, but anyway conventional design is better.

I do not compare Volvo FH with Freightliner classic ore with international 9200.... but newer conventional trucks are ready to pass hard European cabin tests, like Swedish test, side impact test, roll over test. Europeans HAD TO make tought cabins, becouse they HAVE to build cobovers and anyway impact forces are twice stronger for COE!

I'm afraid I'm with jacko on this one, if those trucks are that thirsty why do u keep them? Whats the point in running a truck that costs that much to run, I'm an owner driver and I can't understand for one second your argument , I mean u sacrifice your wealth and welfare for an image? To be nostalgic? I don't get it! If those aerotrucks are more efficient why don't you get one of those? I had quiet a few trucks up until the recession hit, now I got just one, it's a plain factory coloured truck with no pipes or anything flashy outside, I wanted a truck that would do my work effeciently and would give me pleasure to drive, I got all the toys inside, it's my truck I'm paying for it why wouldn't I have them? I mean the toys are only a marginal cost when spread over the repayments of the truck, diesel is by far the biggest cost here, thats why fuel efficiency is so important. I don't care about the image or how it looks on the outside I only care about makin money and that's the perfect truck for the job, it's cost effective, I had plans to get an American truck because of the attention it would get here ( thus great advertising ) but I'm changing my mind very quickly, I also don't like the way you insulted Europeans and immigrants, no family values and tradition eh? What's that about? I have a very traditional family with strong values, I'm educated, how about this for family values : give up your truck and and silly ideals for one of those aeros, then use the money u save to better the lives of your family!

1 liter diesel cost here (HOLLAND) €1.40 that is $1,97 so i thats much higher that in the USA.
So fuel effeciently is a ferry important thing here. Otherwise you will drive your self bankrupt.

I'd prefere Aero truck too. I do not think European and new US trucks look ugly.

Yeah, I see fluence of European truck industry on US truck makers and they build aero trucks. And they are not ugly. They are different!

Aero trucks are not classical trucks, they do not look so massive and solid, but they are safe, tought, with better vision, less noisy and save fuel!

I remember 80-s Volvos with four wall brick design. cabin is noisy at high speed... wind noise from mirrors, doors, antennas.... How quiet are new Volvos!

So what? it is really funny for example to fly prop planes, ride in steam powered trains, use wiered phones?

New age is coming! We will drive LiPo powered tucks soon, hood will dissapeare, becouse motors will be built in axes... so what will new truck look like?
