The rail is trying to help drivers achive their hometime goals !!

Companies are using the rail, and more regional operations also.

The majority of drivers want more hometime, and want it more often.

A local company has been trying for weeks to find drivers for coast to coast runs,

but nobody wants the job !!

    So,

I guess drivers need to stop complaining about only getting 2K miles a week !!!

Well I'm an old railroader from my college days now trying to decide on a trucking career. I love railroads but excited to try trucking if I can find a good fit. Wish the trucking industry was a little better on it's people but the rails are getting much less employee friendly as well.

I wonder if they start putting flatbeds on rail if they would stop every three hours for a load check?:biggrin_2554:

Ran intermodal for several years. About 30% of the time we found trailers heavily damaged by yard crews (including forks thru the side), suspension and tires damaged, pins and plates twisted or ripped right off, seals missing or not the right numbers. And you quickly learn to not stand in front of the doors when you open em.

When doing intermodal ALWAYS check your seal numbers off your BOL very closely; especially on high dollar loads.
