Just like in Hollywood and the TV world takes a break to film new shows you must watch reruns. With that in mind lets go all the way back to when this show.....er..Thread started.

OK, here is one from today.
A driver was at about 88 hours on his logs in the last 8 days.
Swore up and down that all he had to count was DRIVING time. His boss said so, so it must be true.
Or how about the guy with the aluminum wheel broken lug hole to hand hole 6 places. He maintained they were just scratches. I had him look between the wheels to see that those scratches went all the way through the wheel.Injun and dieselbear Thank this. -

A DOT officer "TAKES" the privilege of "checking" areas and places which have nothing to do with the safe operation of a CMV.
Perhaps it is "sketchy" to some here, but to those of us with rudimentary reading and comprehension skills it is CRYSTAL CLEAR.
Just as the framers wrote it.....
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
"Fishing" around for POSSIBLE violations or "contraband" is 110% UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
PERIOD !!!
And NO COURT.... OR JUDGE.... has the authority or power to undermine the Constitution.
When we stop allowing courts to remove our rights, we will be on the path to freedom as intended. -

In 1994, I had the "pleasure" of working for a local company that had little concern for equipment upkeep.
We built casinoes and the truck was an older cement mixer.
After complaining for a week about a badly worn steer tire, it developed a sudden depressurization due to a sharp object penetrating the sidewall right on the yard.
Next morning, the company "mechanic" was just finishing up replacement when i arrived.
I was more than a little miffed to find a RECAP DRIVE TIRE in place.
He argued with me about it for 30 minutes or more.
I finally gave up and pulled to the washout.
Funny thing...... that tire also "blew out" on the yard.... before I even got loaded.
I got my new steer rubber. -
I just usually get out with proper papers.... and LOCK MY DOORS.
Tends to limit the temptation to wander into places they shouldn't. -
Unless you're driving a bus, there's nothing illegal about running recaps, drives, or any other tire for that matter, in the steer position as long as it has the minimum 4/32" tread depth.Brickman Thanks this. -
393.75...
(e) A regrooved tire with a load-carrying capacity equal to or greater than 2,232 kg (4,920 pounds) shall not be used on the front wheels of any truck or truck tractor.
So, who really uses regrooved tires anymore? They're either new, or retreads...
I won't drive a truck with retreads on the steers... also translated to I won't drive for some cheap arse monkey of an owner who won't spend the extra dollars for good steer tires... especially considering how long steers last. -
So, here addresses your statement regarding retreads (regrooves) and drive tires on the steer axle. Go check your drive tire capacity yourself and determine whether it is rated for a steer axle.
