So basically you drive Mon, Wed, and Fri...About 500mi/day or 1500/week. That @ 32cpm is $480, if you get that...Not to bad for 3 days of work, but do you get that or near it every week?

If you were OTR...Would you expect to get way more, or would you settle for that?

Agreed, but,WHY IS THAT??:biggrin_2556: Are we so dis-organized,so dis-franchised,that alot of trucker's do not know one simple truth.,and that is,WITHOUT us,(truck drivers) they are absolutely nothing,NOTHING,and they don't have a job. What are there, roughly 3 million OTR truckers? When we stand as 1,(you drive your truck,I'll drive mine) we,do not have a chance, against the beast.(management) If only 30%,of the 3 million could stand together, there would be sweeping changes in this Industry, but, everyone is just concerned about themselves, and so,this will never happen, and I suppose, the Industry knows that...Umm,what the hell was I talkin about..?:biggrin_2556:

This may be a little off-topic,but 1 week ago I went with my nephew to an AA meeting,to watch him receive his 5 year sobriety pin..There were about 150 people there, and my nephew spoke for about 20 minutes in front of them of his drinking days,(and of things I didn't know about):biggrin_2556: Can I say,his talk was "sobering"? Anyway, his LAST comment was,if his words can only spare ONE,from the pain and sadness he put himself through, his "speech" was a success in his book..

boy you can tell youve only been trucking for a year. not trying to be a jerk but... you should know its not like that at all. when i say nights off during the week its like gettin in between 3 and 9 pm and rockin and rolling back out 3 to 7 am. and we all know what a weekend is in trucking but i sometimes like right now i got home yesterday at 2 pm and i can leave sunday am or monday am. as all of or most of the outbound loads have no appt time. got 2 1/2 days off this week and somehow still got 2340 miles plus i had 4 stops on one load. but thats what i was saying before i should be getting alot more cuz i bust my tail off!!

im there with ya otr should be more but short haul/local really should be more!! this thing started cuz i dont like being told that people like me are the problem! its the companys not the working man who needs a pay check.

oh b4 anyone starts doing the math its 2340 cuz of payroll im paid off the qc not when paper work gets there so i had a load that picked up last friday in tn 850 mi down to medley fl that i droped off monday at 8 am so thats on this weeks check.

Most of my research about other companies is talking with drivers.
YYou might do well if you are targeting a company to try talking to 5-6 of their drivers. I drive for a flatbed co. now that I want to leave,so i talk to company drivers and Owner Op.s I learn a lot that way. The company I work for now runs me 14 days out at .35 and the company i decided to join pays .41 and home weekends. Its really our job to move to the better companies, and let the others shrivel up!:Motorcyclist::Motorcyclist::Motorcyclist::Motorcyclist::Motorcyclist::Motorcyclist:

People either need to lead, follow, or get out of the way. I start my trucking career next month so I will FOLLOW the good advice I have read from all the seasoned guys in this forum and in the company I seriously researched. After a year or so of I will LEAD myself to much better pay. The problem in this world is the people too stupid to get out of the way. Meaning the drivers who have good experience and work for peanuts. Get out trucking if you are making it harder for the rest of the drivers. That goes for the pigs too lazy to throw their garbage in the GARBAGE CAN.

yup i like this thread and forum ALOT and i have to say i owe a gratitude of thanks to all the old timers and guys that know a thing or two always posting their knowledge because before i found this site and all the great guys on it, i was ready to jump to OTR, go work for any outfit that would train me to upgrade from my B to an A license, and put me in the seat. hell i was ready to do a lease purchase.

i truly thought that i would go lease a truck, then buy it at the end, and then i would be sailing in the wind makin $$ HA what a pipe dream that was, this board saved me from a very bad life decision i would of made, i would of quit a great job i got now to get screwed and make less then i do to be out on the road and no commitment from a boss. maybe one day i will get OTR, i dont know though i dont like this government telling all the drivers what to do. im glad i work at a good ol boy type place, not real strict on nonsense and its just whatever goes i guess, you wont get fired cuz you violated rule 4 on paragraph 5 in section 8 article 9-15 line 7 or stuff like that.

I love the posts that read "I am leaving for orientation at (insert company name here) in the morning, can anybody tell me if this is a good outfit?"
