Nice post
But to be self insured means they have the financial backing to cover liability for accidents caused by their drivers.
Many local goverments are self insured. The problem with them is they write their own laws and limit payouts.
I am curiouse to learn what does to "have a safety rating" have to do with keeping insurnace, if they are self insured?
I have always been curiouse how self insurnace works.

Rad, I am so sorry to hear of your dilemma. We have TRIED to keep people from JB Hunt before all this happens, yet almost EVERY day we hear from those who are going through what you are because of JB Hunt (and, it won't stop). I wish you all the best, and for those of you reading this who ALMOST made the mistake of JB Hunt...you have been warned!

Dear WiseOne:
If I new, what I know now, I would have never entered into an employment contract with JB HURTS oh I mean Hunt...NOT.
Well, I went on another interview today and will now have to wait for thier response, which I am sure will be...NO. Also, recieved some calls, but I am not going to count on that. Yes, my rent is late and my account is overdrawn, so a job needs to happen soon. On another note, I did contact my previous employer and have a interview on Aug 2nd, whuch means so long to trucking, but most will maintain my love for trucking absent of the trucking companies.
Again, I commend you for your condor and bravo to you for creating this tool.
Regards,
Soon to be homelss due to JB Hurts, I mean Hunt

"I am curiouse to learn what does to "have a safety rating" have to do with keeping insurnace, if they are self insured?"
Baack : I'm not certain either, but I refered to it that way because driving for Crete and England, among the paperwork in the permit book, is a certificate of insurance, and it lists the name of an insurance corporation, so someone must 'underwrite' the company don't you think?
I've just assumed that whoever that entity is, is the one that calls the shots for how the company applies its safety program and that the company is evaluated on a regular basis. That would explain why they also prefer, just like you and me in our private cars, to keep incidents minor enough that they don't involve the police or thrid parties. -
I would like a list or web site were I can find these smaller companies ,yes i know that there not the best to work for but they will help with the bill and give me a way to help my DAC look better by working there for a year or so. plse give me the name of these companies .

Well...I really feel for you man This may sound strange but I do have a option for you. If you really wanna continue trucking I happen to be looking for a team partner I only have a few rules if you are interested then by all means apply. The rules are as follows
#1. You must be clean
#2. You must not be gay...If you are then please don't express it towards me.
#3. Listen and learn I may have only been trucking for a year but in reality actually about 10 I use to Drive with my Grandpa since I was 16 he tought me all kinds of stuff.
#4. Do not be ####y if you have to think twice about it don't do it.
I hope this helps I will be waiting for your reply. -
The way self insurance works is that a company thru their assets is able to "self insure" up to a point. Meaning they pay any amount up to..... lets say 1 million dollars. Some companies may go higher than that.
And then a insurance company steps in at any amount over $1 million. Having catastrophic insurance is far cheaper than having first dollar coverage like some places do. -
You forgot Quote "Seinfeld" "not that there is anything wrong with that" -
Phone book might be your friend here. I don't know of any list of small companies.
