For years I wanted my own truck and my Dad who drove till the day he passed told me NEVER buy a truck,, so out of respect for his wisdom and advise I didnt. But that has all changed I just purchased a 1984 R model Mack in GREAT shape to haul and recover my antique fire trucks. I have been contacted by a local company to short haul local stuff and run the farm market a couple days a week. My question is how much can I expect to charge for this service.(truck and driver)? Also, to do this do I need DOT auth,, and IFTA?

I love the one bid high then you can always come down? GREAT

The problem is if they think you are too high they will just blow you out of the water.

Dump trucks get 65 to 95 an hour depending on how many loads.
    Less loads more money.

To do it legal you'll have to have all the good stuff.

Local work like that I would charge by the hr. Around here its $85 for truck and trailer. Put in your contract that its from the time you leave your house until you leave the job. Or similar language, that way you don't have to drive 2 hrs one way for a job, and then 2 hrs back. Some folks you may be able to charge from time you leave until you get back.

You have to do everything legal -ifta insurance and authority-most times I charge a minimum of 500 dollars for any load up to 200 miles-dont run cheap as everything on your truck has a finite life and will have to be replaced.good luck
